Window water spots
I hate em. They're not there until the sun hits the window just right. I think I washed the windows perfectly and they always seem to show up. What is the best way to get rid of them and what should I use to prevent them from happening again?
Guess I've never been that **** about my windows, but I know what you're talking about. Believe it or not, plain vinager dissolves hard water spots real well and is a heck of a lot cheaper than many products marketed for that purpose. However it is somewhat acidic, and I don't believe it will do you any favors on your paint if you were to get it on there concentrated and didn't clean it off shortly thereafter. Otherwise a product called CLR (most hardware stores have it) does the job real well too...again...be careful near painted surfaces.
Purchase some glass polish. It's fairly cheap and will definitely make a difference. You can also use rainX over the glass polish. If the waterspots etch I recommend getting 3m scratch remover. My 85 Z had awful waterspots on the ttops from being parked outside(before I bought it). Using that fine grade remover I was able to remove all the water etching without scratching or otherwise hurting the glass.

NEVER use steel wool on glass. That being said, most water spots are merely mineral deposits and can be removed with a mixture of water and white vinagar. If they have indeed etched into the glass, simple polishing with some chrome polsh will work wonders.
Another tip for windows is use your newspaper instead of paper towels (don't us the auto section/too much color can bleed but will not stain since it is soy based ink)
Newspaper is cheaper if you get it delevered and you do not get the white fuzzies left behind.
I too wax my windows. Same as the glass polish but it is sitting in my garage anyway and I do not any more stuff in their.

It seems most likely that those stains are caused by hard water. You are probably using the hose by your garage, right? Well, let me give you some advice. Use vinegar and paper towels. Seriously. It works wonders. Good luck.

You can buy it at any car store. Like Pep Boys or Autozone.
