Removing Old Wax before Zaino
I was wondering what is the best way to strip the old wax off before starting the Zaino process. I am waiting for May to roll around since May = College Graduation = NEW Z roadster! Thank you for all of your help, and thanks to everyone for such an overall informative website.
When I was preping my CS for it's first application of BlackFire, i didn't have any dawn, so i used some diluted Simple Green(which i used to wash my rims) to wash and de-wax. It worked out great.
I recommend Dawn and a claybar. This combination will remove old wax and any debris on the paint. To get the very best result from Zaino, it is best to start with a clean slate!

I dunno if its the avatar or the sig, but i can sooo hear that being said in yoda-voice lol
simple green? that sounds a bit harsh, not sure if itll even do the trick as its more of a degreaser.
definitly better to use a dish detergent like dawn, I used joy myself just cause its what I had.
be careful to try and not let it drip down onto your tires, supposedly its not real good for them, dries them out.

I presented this same question on another Z site to Dr. B and others. I also sent a emal to Zaino brothers. Since I have multiple coats of Klasse High Gloss no one was really sure about bonding of Zaino. Zal wrote back with the basic party line of washing with Dawn and then claybar. Should work fine.

First off - Thanks to everyone for the info. When using dawn to wash the car, should you do much scrubbing and is there a certain type of cloth to use to help remove the old wax? Also, is it easy to tell once you get all of the wax off - for example, does the paint look more dull or anything (I dont want to miss a spot!). Thank you again for all the help with my noobie questions.
Nothing special, just a regular washing with the Dawn. Make sure you don't create swirls with a cheap towel though.
You'll know that the car has been stripped. Just run the hose on it and it won't bead water at all. It will also look less shiney.
