Default Video on how to use polishing machine

Heres a video done by the guy who really got me to where I am today as far as detailing is concerned. He made a really good video on how to use the Porter Cable Polisher that I highly recomended in the sessions.

A few notes: He is using a wool pad because his finish was glossy BUT neglected and had deep etching ect. The wool is the most agressive pad and should only be used if required. Most of the time, the white foam pad (medium density pad) works great. Here he is using the wool with a mild polish, which is also great to use by hand. Notice how much time he actually spends on the section, thats the key to succesful polishing.

Remeber, with a few exceptions its very hard to hurt the finish with this machine, don't be scared thinking you cant use it.

I have had one those buffing machines in my garage for a while now but was affraid to use it without someone actually showing me how to. Thanks fore the video, I think I'm gonna try it on the Pathfinder tomorrow.

BTW can you use the machine to apply the wax or is it only used for polishing?

I really dont recomend using the machine for wax for a few reasons. One is you need a liquid wax, which are quite inferior. Now all polymers are liquid, but polymers usually should be applied nice and thin and a machine can have a dard time with that. Second, you need the black foam pad as it has very little friction of its own.
