Unhappy Claying scratched my paint all up

I just purchased some clay bars from zaino. I admit I have never used a clay bar before.

I read the instructions carefully. Washed the area I was going to clay bar several times. Dried the area. Then put soapy water on the area. Rubbed the clay bar over the area several times. When it dried, it was covered with scratches ...

Im like OMFG.... Now what should I do ?

Thanks!

The clay bar was brand new, and clean. I did not drop it.

you did rinse it after claying right?

its important that you keep folding the clay cause the surface will have all the dirt from the car on it, need to keep a clean surface.

often good to tear it in half, and do half the car with each so you have a fresh peice.

if you dont lubricate it enough though, it can scratch it, I did it in one spot, it should slide pretty easily. doing it in the shade on a cool day can help alot, you have a black car in texas, Im guessing it was a bit warm out, might make it tough to keep the surface wet.

oh yea, i rinsed it, rewashed it, everything. Looked like ****.

I went out and bought some of that meguires NXT wax, put a couple coats of that on there and it seemed to help it.

and yes, it does get hot in texas. but not today. overcast all day

i can't believe how sensitive this paint is. my hood is covered with little white specks from paint coming off. ..

As you were working the Clay Bar, did you keep the area wet with the soapy mix?
What's done is done, but the proper technique should not have created scratches, unless they were already there and the clay bar cleaned enough stuff to uncover them.
I have destroyed Clay Bars on paint that was so filthy the bar would not hold together towards the end, and did not scratch, so I am very interested in what happened.

Hmm, I probably don't know what I am talking about. BUT, after you playyour car and wash with dawn or anything your taking EVERYTHING off your paint.. So in turn you are going to be seeing ALL of those swirls, or even light scratches that may be under whatever is protecting your paint.

Take it in to be professionally detailed if you can not remove them.

I know after I washed my Z with dawn and used the zaino clay bar the paint was infested with swirls. Kinda scary looking. It's all good now though.

You'll be fine I did the same. Use 3m swirl mark remover. Then rewash with dawn. Then follow with z5.

Swirl marks are unavoidable for the most part. You'll always see "some". Especially on darker cars. Just try to minimize them. What lubricant did you use when you clayed?
