Default Blackfired Z

Thought I'd post this reflection after using 2 coats of Blackfire polymer sealant. I did not clay the car or do any other elaborate preps.

The car also has a bad case of orange peel above the belt line, though it is not that noticable in this photo. I plan to remove the orange peel effect in the worst areas once I get the proper supplies and the time to do it right.

Yes, very easy. The ease of application is one of the reasons I went with that product.

TCL: You have more than just orange peel in your paint. You have a bunch of flowers and rocks and stuff too!

You need to pull some weeds!

Nice choice on the car, we have similar tastes. I have a Daytona Blue Track with Nav coming sometime. Last date I was given was November but no VIN yet.

Z CRAZY, I've noticed that an unusally high percentage of Track models are ordered in blue. I would really like to see Nissan's official pre-order stats by color/model combination. Here's another shot of the blue showing how the color varies with the light.

Bonz, I can't find any procedures for removing flowers from the finish. Guess they'll have to stay.

TLC's first pic really show what BF looks like. Bonz's Zino pics were awesome too put the "after" pic's contrast seemed to be changed which makes it much more dificult to see the actuall differences.

Meguiars Unigrit finishing paper (2500 grade), followed by a fine cut polishing compound, followed by a finishing polish. If the clear coat is too thin, I'll have another two coats sprayed on and cut it down again.

Yes Pat. That would be the Z-37. Right after the Z-36 rodent and ground level pest removal cream.

Brad. The "before" pic was taken at about 9 AM and it was still a little dark and cloudy outside. The "after" was taken around 4 PM and it was bright and sunny. I think my digital camera does that automatically to adjust for the lighting situation. Trust me, I'm not trying to fool anyone here.

Bonz, not saying you were trying to fool anyone, just saying that the contrasts were quite different so its hard to really see whats going on. Im sure it looked fabulous.

It looks like you painted a picture on your door. So can you explain the process of using Blackfire? Do you know if it fills in swirlmarks? I am still trying to figure out if I will stick with Zaino or switch to Blackfire.

Here are the steps:

1. Clean the paint - wash first. The instructions then say to place your hand in a plastic sandwich bag and feel the finish for grit. If you feel any, they recommend using clay on the surface. I didn't feel any so I skipped the clay step.

2. Polish to remove old wax and oxidized paint. I skipped this step also since the car was new and the dealer did not apply wax per my request.

3. Apply the Blackfire by putting a nickel sized dab on a waxing pad and rub on. They said that amount should cover about half of a hood. Doing one section at a time, allow it to dry to a haze and wipe off with soft terry cloth or micro fiber towel.

Not sure if it fills swirl marks since I didn't have any. Brad can probably tell you that.

TLC, next time i would use the polish, it is VERY mild (not abrasive) but does enhance the shine alot.
