Default Lifespan of cleaning and drying cloths

I was wondering... what is the lifespan of for microfiber and other cleaning, polishing and drying cloths in terms of number of car washes/waxes. And is there some good tell tale signs that you can look for to determine when the cloth is destined for the rag bin?

On a similar note, how many times can I use my Zaino cotton polish applier. I forget the number for them, something like #214. I tried to clean them out after my first wash, but there's still some material staining them. If I reuse that side, will I end up getting small scratches?

Anybody have any success at cleaning them out?

I guess I could just apply with a towel, but I don't want my towels to be trashed just yet.
