Super Black Paint Scratches to Easily

I have a Super Black 350z. The paint scratches very, very easily. I set a paper notebook on the roof to open the door, and when I grabbed the notebook, it left several very noticable scratches.
The paint looks great, until you look at it in the sun. It is full of swirls and straight scratches.
When the car was delivered I requested wash only. The next day it was polished and waxed with Blackfire.
I have always polished and waxed my own cars, mostly black or red, and have never had problems. I use microfiber towels or fieldcrest cotton towels with the decorative ends cut off.
The more I try, the worse things look. It is very depressing.
Anybody else having problems with the paint? Any ideas?
Thanks...

I've had mine for two weeks with a little over 1K miles. No swirls, no scratches, and orange peel gone.
I had it washed only by the dealer. The next day I washed, used clay bar, rewashed, and used Zaino. I'm continuing to use Zaino, in fact I'm putting in another order for more Z2 and Z5.

as an owner of a BLACK car I can tell you, when it is washed and waxed it is the best color and looks amazing, when it isn't, well, it is the exact opposite!!!
I am gettting silver.

Forgive my ignorance but how did you get rid of the orange peel? Was it the claybar?
I was at the tint shop last weekend in Santa Rosa. Also there during the day were several other Zs having their clear bra installed by Jeremy (Krinkov) and crew. On the same complex was a European used car dealership. It was a slow business day and the salespeople were really curious about the Zs. I let them take an extensive look at mine and they were impressed with the paint quality on my car. They specifically noted no orange peel. I explained the Zaino process to them.

I agree with rodH.
the black car is the best looking car on the road when it's clean!
i first used the normal wax on my car but then i changed to the liquid wax. i found the liquid wax was so easy to use and left no water spot and acctually stay clean longer.
for the scratch, u can get a paint protection or a clearbra. (i didn't do mine yet coz i have to wait until im done with the SAT thing)

I own a black Accord now, and when it's clean, it looks pretty nice. However, when it's not, which is the vast majority of the time, the car just looks horrible. It didn't help that the Honda basecoat color is white, so every scratch really really shows through.

This paint scratches way easier than anything I have ever had.
I can't believe you didn't read my post where I said I have had many Black and Red cars!
I can't believe that that you wasted a post with that response!
I was told that clearcoats are softer than they used to be due to waterborne rather than airborne paint processes (at least on American cars). Although all the Z's have the same clearcoat, the hairline scratches will show up more on dark cars. I have a PPW, and although I'll bet there are some scratches (the dealer did wash it once), you can't see them, even in direct sunlight.
I owned a black Z06, it had terribly soft clear coat and it was a nightmare from day one. It had scratches all over when I took delivery, and it was a brand new car. The dealer ended up paying a high quality detailer to polish out the scratches on the entire car, and it took several days to get it right. From then on, I took perfect care of it myself, but ten minutes after it was clean, it looked dirty. It was always a pain making sure no one casually rubbed their fingers on it (this can cause scratches), etc. It drove me crazy having the car look dusty or dirty almost all the time. Never use a California duster on a black car. You WILL get scratches.
No more black cars for me.

Why is that?? I thought that the Cal Duster was as soft as a baby's behind. I also have Black and have noticed lots of scratches, just didn't attribute it to "My California Duster" which I use almost daily.

I actually watched the duster scratch my car, and I barely let it touch the surface. When you use it, no matter how careful you are, you are still draggin dust (dirt) across the surface. You don't have to be Einstein to figure out what that's going to cause. My Z is PPW, and I still wouldn't use it.

Never, repeat Never, dry wipe a car with any dust or dirt on it! It may seem convienient but is guaranteed to scratch your car.
Repeat - Never dry wipe a dusty or dirty car.

If my car has a minumum of dust on it ( not dirt!), and I want to clean it quickly, I use a quick detailer spray in generous amounts, let it sit a moment and then gently wipe the surface with a micro fiber cloth. Don't wipe the dirty cloth back over the paint...use a fresh one to dry it...carefully.
