Default California Duster?

I have a Super Black Z and it looks stunning just after a wash and detail, however you know how black is, after driving for a while, it gets "dusty". My Z stays in the garage ALL the time, and I only drive it for FUN, will using a California Duster to "touch it up" in between full details add to the swirl marks?
I do wax it often and just use it as a "touch up", the C.D. is brand new, and it doesn't make sense to wash the Z when it gets dusty.

Any Comments?

I have used them for years on my black vehicles and never had a problem, they are good for light dust but do not use them to replace wash jobs. They do however deposit a trace of oil from time to time which can easy be removed when you use your liquid detailer.

No problems here either...the trace oil is the wax and should only happen the first few times you use it.

It is coated in paraffin wax. If you wrap a new one in newspaper and change the newspaper every day for about a week, it won't make those wax marks quite so much.

I've had mine for about 8 years now and haven't had any wax marks for many years. It works great for dust but don't do it if the car is truly dirty.

I've had mine for about a year now, and I agree with everyone here...it's no substitute for a proper washing, but if you've got a SuperBlack with some light dust you want to knock out, it's the only way to go.

For superblack, I recommend using Meguires Quick Detailer to remove the layer of dust. This way, you arent removing the dust dry, you have a wet cushion in beween the cloth and the paint.

Yes, but aren't you just rubbing in the dust with the spray on detailer? I would think you are at risk for swirls if your not really careful. I have never seen swirls with the duster since it actually lifts the dust off of the paint instead of rubbing it in.

Yep. It seems to pick up dust better and it no longer leaves the little parafin wax streak anymore.

i use the duster almost every nite (so dusty here in cali), but i've noticed on the 3rd or 4th nite after a wash, because of the road grime i'm guessing, there are streaks with the cali duster (not permanent ones, just light dust streaks).

i was going to get meguiar's quick detailer, but then i just read on a previous post that it contains silicons & also should not be used alongwith zaino.

then i thought Z6, but again read somewhere that Z6 is only for right after you wax the car.

so someone please recommend a quick way to get dust off without scratching ... not the hose the car & dry.. cause that's as good as washing the car all over again...

cali duster 1st...then quick detailer...I've used quick detailer even after rain storm and have had good luck...but then again I have a silverstone...which doesn't shine up purrty like superblack...but isn't half as hard to "pamper"

You can use Z-6 anytime, not just after waxing.

BUT, if you have driven your car all week and have "road grime" on it, it would be best to wash it before you do anything else. I wouldn't be dragging a duster over the paint for anything other than just DUST. You'll scratch it if you use a duster on DIRT.

Also, I wouldn't recommend just a quick detailer (like Z-6) on DIRT either. Again, scratches/swirls.
