Default cheap buffers any good?

i saw a 2800rpm random orbital buffer at my local auto store for $25. Do these work well?? anyone tried it? i was planning to get a Porter Cable, but if they work the same, might as well save some money. primarily need it to hide swirls and light scratches

They do not work the same.

Save yourself a headache and go for the PC.

I got a craftwman orbital for about $50. I love it. I actually use it after wet sanding to buff and polish things i pain on my car.. give a better than factory finish.

I would recomment it.

Craftsman 10" Orbital Buffer.

I also use it to take zaino off.

craftsman stuff can be pretty decent...but I honestly don't think you could comapre a $25 ro to the Porter Cable..but I'm biased because I'm digging my PC...

these things work well if all you are doing is applying wax, but I wouldn't apply any polishes w/ that thing. Save some cash and buy a PC

If you want some good products check out the Einzsett series of polishes to remove scratches. You can get more user information on these products at www.autopia.org

I used the Einzsett Paint Polish with a PC on a black Monte Carlo and it turned out very well.

Both kinds of buffers can work the same, but the cheapy buffers do not have interchangable head stocks meaning you have to find bonnets to go over the head unit whereas the PC has a removable arbor allowing you to run the velcro quick change foam pads. Also, the cheapy buffers usually do not have adjustable speeds like the PC and the PC has a 3.5 amp motor I believe whereas the cheapy buffers usually have like a .5 amp motor. I have a PC and a cheapy WEN buffer also............

er.. if u are set on using menerza there is no point to buying a polisher. to get the most of of the polisher, you have to use a fine cut polish to actually remove the swirls. not just fill them in. menerza can be applied by hand. save urself the money, applying it with a polisher isn't going to do much good.

I have never heard of anyone using menerza that used it by hand, everyone I have see on Autopia and a bunch of other places uses the intensive and final with the PC...
