Default Wifes 2005 Super Black 350Z Roadster....fine scratches on paint...

Hello everyone,

My wife just had her car washed for the second time today and she was saying that there were some water spots on her doors from the side view mirrors and rear 1/4 paned from the conv. deck lid.

Went out to the garage and looked at the car under the lights and the paint looks like someone took sandpaper to the entire car!!!!

I will be ordering the Zaino started kit with an extra bottle of Z6 tomorrow. I have already ordered the micro fiber wash mit and the big blue drying towel from proper auto care.

I will be going to Target and getting the Cannon or Fieldcrest white towels as per the Zaino website.

Now...I have done research and have seen the pictures of Dr. Bonz's Z...WOW!!!

So what else should I do to make the finish of my wife's Z R, close to perfect again?? Just Zaino, Z5, Z6, Z5, Z6, Z5, Z6 and Z2 for the first time??

Thanks in advance..

All Z5 will do is fill in the scrates. It will not get rid of them. I would just do 2 coats of Z5 and then two coats of Z2.

One thing, remember to go back and forth and not make circular motions.

Get a waffle-weave Microfiber towel for drying. Don't rub the surface to dry the car, lay the towel across a section and it will easily absorb the water that's left.

Also, use the water sheeting trick to rinse the car. Remove the spray nlozzle from your hose and start from the top down and soak a panel until a sheet of water covers it. Then move the hose to another panel. You'll see the sheet of water run off and leave just a few drops that the WW towel can absorb.

Also, try a left blower for blowing the water out of those hard to get spots. No touching - no scratches.

Yes, be super careful with SuperBlack 350Z's. The factory clear is very soft and thin. I used quality microfiber clothes for EVERYTHING. Soaping, washing, drying, waxing...etc.

make sure to do the "CD" test before putting any towel on your paint finish.

That's the problem with black cars. You might reduce some of the swirls, but you will never get it to look like fresh, virgin paint. On a cloudy day it will look okay, but in bright sunlight and certain types of indoor lighting, every little micro scratch will be visible.

Darker colors act like a mirror reflecting light back through the swirls. A silver or white car with the same amount of microscpic damage may look perfect in sunlight, while the black paint looks ten years old. I had a black Z06. The best dest detailer on the planet gave up trying to get it right.....the soft clearcoat simply could not be restored.

If you're serious about keeping the car looking good I'd buy a PC and get use to it. Waxing/sealing is one thing but it's not going to get rid of your scratches. You need a good polish! If you're using a sealant look into Menzerna polishes, I love their FP. When I do my car i use 1Z PP and Menzerna FP. These two take alot of the fine scratches out and the FP seems to give my paint more "pop".
