do you drive around the waterbox?
do you do a burnout?
Launch RPM?
lastly shifting at redline? or Peak HP 6200RPM or Peak TQ 4800RPM?

1. Drive through water box.
2. Do a good burn out (for a few seconds just to heat/clean tires).
2a. If you cant do a burnout go around water.
3. I'd say start at 2500rpms, and feather until you have traction.
3a. Work rpms from there.
4. Redline but not past. That way you shift into your powerband and not out of your power band (either way: before or past)

I had an a5 and you go through the box. You can do a very nice burnout. Its actually easier. You need to pull the fuse though.

Drive around the box for sure. The water is there for guys with slicks that actually need to be warmed up! Your stock tires DON'T. I consistently got 2.0s to 2.1s 60' times with the stock tires at Great Lakes (I see you're in IL)

Lower the tire psi to 25, take out the spare and jack. Don't try to rev too much and dump the clutch, first run just try easing off, then if you feel comfortable, try revving to ~2500 rpms and launching. All I can think of right now. Oh yeah, don't get your tires wet in the burnout pit, go around it and then spin 'em, with street tires, you don't need to wet them before you burnout, you will just get water in the lip of the rim and will then drip back onto your tires when you are about to launch. One more thing, as soon as the last yellow light comes on (not the staging lights) launch, by the time you react the light will be green.

Be careful at the staging sensors, there are two sensors and lights that will be triggered when approaching the stage mark, go very slow until the first stage light illuminates and then even slower until the second stage light illuminates, be ready to brake immediately after second stage light illuminates.

Be careful not to hit the rev limiter. Your fuel pump will cut off and you'll stumble.

Another thing, don't have either windows rolled down, they require both of them to be up, and make sure both of the doors are closed, and the hatch is shut, and the hood if you decide to open it sometime. BTW, you can get a red light for going too far on the second staging light, which you will lose to the other car regardless of if you have a faster time or not.

Turn off TCS.

Try just launching without revving first and then increase the revs on every run after that and launch at what you feel most comfortable with.

Oh and, don't try to do a burnout contest, street tires don't need to get warmed up, they already grip as good as they are going to grip.

street tires DO need a little heat in them...only a 4-6sec burnout though at most. just a slight spin isnt enough. I have a few hundred street tire passes and use to compete in a street tire class and the best 60's were achieved this way. Of course you have to be very smooth on street tires to get the most out of them.

I never removed the fuse and still could do donuts or burnouts.
