Finally hit the track!!!
Finally went to the track this past weekend to test out the Z. Let me say now, I need a lot of practice. I raced at the denton speedway, down here by denton, Tx. I was the only Z out there that night . Anyways, my best time was 9.428 @ 78 mph on the 1/8 mile. I had two other runs similar to that and then 2 more at 10.4 or something, spun all the way through 1st and 2nd on those(before my buddy gave me pointers on how to launch). I thought it was alright considering this being my first time, also first time w/ a stick. my reaction wasnt to bad, around .5 seconds, it just seemed about the 330 ft. mark where I had to shift to second is where i lost it. If anyone has any pointers on this I wouldnt mind hearing them, probably going back again this week to do it again. on my better times i started dumping @ 2500 rpms, thats about right, isnt it?

Sounds like fun. Is the track out there only an 1/8 mile? Everytime you go out you will improve but just starting out thats decent. Keep practicing and watch those times drop.

What were your 60ft's ? Keep practicing, for betterlaunches imo, on street tires you have to have some clutch modulation, dont just drop it, I usually slip around 3000 rpm, mayb emore depends on how the track is. A 9.4 in the 1/8 is mid to high 14's in the 1/4 depending on how fast you shift, you have a lot of room for improvement. Just keep practicing your launch and shifting, and things will get better.

Alright, I went back this week after practicing a bit on the launches and faster shifting. I would say I did quite a bit better this time around. I shaved a little over 3/10s of a second off of my time just by doing better on my launches and shifts. Hell, on one run I even missed 2nd and 3rd and made a better time than my previous ones....
Heres the times:
Best time(my friend drove the car, hes a pretty good driver):
Reaction: 0.7012
60ft: 2.1867
330ft: 5.9207
1/8: 9.0070
TS: 81.88
My Best time:
Reaction: 0.8179
60ft: 2.1966
330ft: 6.0048
1/8: 9.1320
TS: 79.94
I had 2 more 9.1s a 9.2, 9.4 and a 10.7(lol, spun through the first two gears and missed 2nd) all in all it was a good and productive day at the track for me, not too bad for the second time around. I did see 2 other Zs at the Denton Dragway, and what I saw didnt look pretty. They were running high 9s and low 10s, worse than I did my first time. It was a PPW and a SB, I didnt get a chance to talk to them, and I dont know if they are on the forum or not.
