Default Manual Shift on Auto tranny~

I did a drag race and found out that whenever i do the shifting "maunually", it's always slower then letting it shift by itself, is it normal ?
or am i doing something wrong?

i have the 03 touring Z and no mod at all.
and the best time i got is 14.5(reaction time is +- 1 sec) on 1/4 drag...hmm

( i got everything tuned off, A/C, radio, .. etc and no extra weight)

i believe that manual mode shifts .2 seconds faster then the normal way. someone brought it up a long time ago. i never ran any tests myself, but i think im going to try it.

Manually shifting your car is ALWAYS faster, you just need to learn to shift after D mode would normally, search around in this forum for some of my posts.

Yea, its the fastest stock 5AT by a decent amount. No tricks, got my shifts down and some good weather. Removed spare/jack/mat. Stock tires with like 18k on the rears.
