My uncle has an 03 SVT Cobra and all he has done is change pulleys, intake and put a Borla exhaust on and claims the car dyno'd at 450hp but didn't show anyone a dyno sheet when he stopped by with it a few hours ago. Can those simple mods really give that car that kind of gain? I told him what I plan on buying and he was grinning excitedly since I'm finally geting something I can join in the fun with. He wants to run that thing against my Z in the spring when we do our family get togethers at the track, I have a feeling I'm gonna get handed even when I put a turbonetics ST on the Z, or will I? I know when I rode in it he like to broke my neck when he burned and launched after getting traction, his headrest don't set upward in that car they face forward right at the back of the neck their dealer said they put those on to reduce whiplash, those things HURT when your neck hits them.

Yep, if you've read my other posts the car is now on order (which is why he said he wants to run this spring) and saturday I'll be having the shop that works on my cars and my friends cars order my T-netics kit so I can have it in the shop for when the car arrives at the dealer and gets broke in.

 

Prepare to wait about 2 to 3 monthes for that Turbonetics kit. If you're serious, order that kit right away, don't wait till Saturday.

Hmm yes A SVT CObra will make that power and more. My Cobra was putting down 455 rwhp/480 Tqr. It ran 12.1~12.3 all day long on Nitto's drag radials with my system in the trunk. The cobra's make hella fide trq. thats where the power is.

My cobra was recently stolen, and now I am looking at forums and maybe a different option. I truly do not want another Cobra stolen. But I will tell you this, unless your pushing 420+ you will get smoked. I say this because I raced a turbo Z at Morosso spedway in FL. I went 12.1 @117, and I am not sure of his time..I know my bud told me I smoked him like a blunt.

 

Theres a bolton Z with drag radials that runs high 12's.. 12.7 I think is his best.. Just some FYI. Problem is getting the Z to hook up.

 

Indeed. But thats a problem with a Cobra as well. I have..rather had, the power to go 11's The issue was getting out of the hole. With the IRS out back, I have seen to many cobra owners snap Half shafts, and that was not going to be me Trufully, and I am not bragging here when I say this, I considered it a bad day at the track when I ran 12.7~12.8's..

I had just bought a new heat exchanger, and was having my Blower ported. Do not be fooled. Cobra's are very very fast cars with little mods done to them. The correct driver behind the wheels, and look out.

 

No doubt, theirs quite a few hidden ponies (pun intended) within the Cobra series. Im not a Ford fan, no offence, but I respect the hell out of a Cobra...

 

pulley=more boost which is power right there plus intake and exaust which on a V8 can be like 20 whp alone but I dont think those 3 things are 450 whp but to the crank then yeah totaly possible.

 

Pulleyed Cobras with intake and exhaust mods should easily make 450+ hp to the wheels with a custom tune! A good tuner should really get closer to 470rwhp.

Well I dunno I have a few friends with cobras and got pulley,exaust,intake and are not getting over 420 or so to the wheels with a tune. Now I do have one friend with a blowzilla and hes over 550 whp easy lol.

 

They have a poor tune then (BTW, I'm assuming SAE dynojet numbers).

 

I dunno about that....

 

What color was the Z? And when did you race him. I'm just curious. I was there saturday for nopi and the test & tune the weds before with another TT Z.
