Hey guys, is having a full tank of gas vs. empty tank going to be the difference between 13s and 14s?

hell yes it will effect your trap speed

how many gallons is your tank?

* 1 gallon of water equals 8.33 lbs.
* 1 gallon of gasoline equals 5.8 to 6.5 lbs.
* 1 gallon of ethanol equals 6.59 lbs.

i used to run with less than an 1/8th at the track and cary a 3 gallon gas can with me for when i ran out and it was time to go home.

last time at the track, i said screw it and ran with a half tank. the extra weight had .5-1 mph effect on traps, but i was rewarded with more traction than usual and a new best 60'

so its up to you

do you have your jack and spare tire in? that should come out and run 1/8th a tank at the track, 1/4 if you plan on making lots of passes

if traction suddenly worsesns due to the lighter rear, which it shouldnt... yall have IRS I assume.... toss the spare and jack back in.

also drain the windshield wiper sprayer tank in the front, could be worth 10 pounds off the front of the car and helps in weight transfer.

with the fuel light on, a z has about 4-5 gallons left in the tank. the only problem is you don't want to run the tank so low on fuel you starve the pump from fuel being pulled away racing

The different is about 0.1 seconds/100 pounds. That is a rough estimate.

I always run with 1/2 tank, my spare and about 20lbs of bullsh1t in my car. I'll go light weight next time at the track and see what happens. I'll go 1/4 or less of gas and no spare or crap in the car. Hell i might even take out some floor mats.

I normally remove my spare and tool box... I used to run with around 3-4 gallons of gas but i ran into issues of the fuel getting pushed to the back of the tank and making the gas guage go down to below E on a hard launch... since it made me nervous that i was going to go lean and pop a piston for a little weight savings... for saftey reasons i now run on a half tank

it wasnt really an issue until i started running mid 12s

great,

might think about grabbing a set of nittos to get your 60s down below 2.0

you will see 13.3s-13.5s then

trust me, way more satisfying modification than buying a coldair and adding more power and only running a tenth faster with more mph
