as said before the G is slower because of the difference in weight, but slightly. I have driven both cars and the only difference I can say is that the Z felt stiffer compared to the G. I would have purchased a Z but I have kids and needed the rear seats. the G in my openion is the best of both worlds performance and lux, and driven well can hang with a Z.

Say 5% of Z owners run 13.7 or better, 5 percent of say 100 Z racers would be 5 guys in the 13.7s or better, but maybe only 10 G guys raced their cars, 5% of 10 is not even 1, so you might not get anyone who has that lucky day at the track with good weather conditions, a good driver, good track, and a good run.
just to add to that I think less than 50% of Z drivers could get a stock one under 14.0... I know there are some guys on here than ran 13.6 but most people are doing better than average running 13.9. There are plenty of people on this forum than ran there Z stock at a track who are not putting their times in their sig.

I agree and I think it also has to do with the particular track and conditions.

I hang out with a Z group here in KC and there are about 8-10 350Zs I've seen race at my track. Only one has gone 13.9s and he has the most significant modifications. The others are solidly in the 14.0-14.5@97-100mph range. 60 foots are typically in the 2.0-2.1 range. I can't imagine ALL these guys are bad drivers.

Enough....I have never been to the track....but I have shut down every Z I've run a cross (save 1 and he couldn't beat me). I have never raced at Englishtown but if I'm going to accept this **** that you speak, I must experience this humility 1st hand. I've killed 8 Z in a row...and tied the last encounter with a modified Z. I have an injen cai(which many claim hurts performance) and fiber glass spitt'n SES injen exhaust. If your in NJ... there is plenty of fiberglass left for you to eat. I'm also gonna take my act to MD soon too. I'm going to pick up one of those pretty CNR pulleys....and while I'm down there find the race track...I would have talked stuff to Alberto too...but seeing that he is turbo'd....I I I'll wait until I'm turbo before I call him out

I'm going to englishtown soon....Hopefully Domz will accept my challenge....then I will be exposed as the "truth"....or a novice...I am a novice I've never tracked the car before....in races I lift to shift...but I've pulled so convincingly on Z's ...they rev their motors....I keep mine just over 1000 rpms...I always get the hole shot....I hear people launching at 3000 rpms.....they are still feathering the clutch while I'm building a lead...at the track I will do nothing different.

Well good luck, and regardless of what you run, post results. BTW-go run first, worry about Dom later. No track experience + racing a quick auto Z = embaressment for you....

I have to say that I am a little biased here being that my buddy owns a G35, it is an Auto w/ minimal mods. He cuts low 14.3s in the 1/4 all day. He just bought Megan Headers/ down pipes and test pipes, not installed yet. He has had an Intake/ pulleys and a plenum spacer for awhile. It seems to me that even with the additional weight of the G35 it is so close to the Z that it makes it a null & void point.

As far as the original post stating that G35s aren't getting it done, think about the demographic in regards to the people that buy G35s. My buddy complains all the time that their forums never talk about performance but rather comfort and stereos. He usually comes to the several 350Z forums to do research on his car since your engines are almost identical. So I believe that you guys have more people that are willing to take your cars to the strip. BTW, I have seen numerous 350Zs run mid to high 15s and higher at the strip, I attribute this to the drivers not having enough seat time, same thing with the guys on the G35 forums.

I use to own a 300ZX TT that had 550Rwhp and 602 Rwtq on C16 Race gas (Stock cam/internals/ bigger turbos and Meth injection/ Lots more supporting mods) So I feel your pains with the RWD world. Good luck guys and keep making every mod count! Share the wealth in regards to what works and doesn't that is how as a forum you guys will get better.

My 300ZX TT: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/541609

Take care guys,

-Nate

That is pretty awesome, don't you think? You have the choice between a two seater or seating for 5. I like both, but after my old Z I lean towards the extra seating for buddies and stuff.

None the less they are both beautiful cars.
