You are underestimating how much your 60' time is hurting you. 2.3 is really bad and leaves you tons of room for improvement. Your trap is a bit on the slow side too, so I'd also assume you are shifting pretty slowly since your power #s indicate you are making decent power.

+1

You should be 87-91mph in the 1/8, and on street tires shoot for a high 1.9 60ft, finesse is the key to launching with so much power. Witha high 1.9 and appropriate shifting you'd be 8.1ish 1/8 MUCH more respectable down the 1/8 on street tires Keep practicing, dont give up you will improve...

^Thanks man. I know my shifting isn't the best but my 1st to 2nd shift IS indeed pretty quick but I know my 2nd to 3rd shift isn't that fast.
One last question...I SHOULD be shifting at redline correct? Despite the fact that max hp on the dyno graph stops at almost 6400?

Yes, shift right at redline in every gear. Even though your peak is at 6400-its still making decent power at 6600rpm's....keep practicing, and get working on that 2-3 shift

you are obviously bogging the car and powering out of it

for your situation and driving, i suggest you buy drag radials and work on shifting.

you should be coming out of the shift gate as you are pushing in the clutch.

with DRs and a descet pass you could get 7.8-8.2

Alright so I got back from the track again over at Irwindale Speedway.
Started at 8.7, then 8.7 again @ 86mph and then hit 8.579 @ 86.47 with a 1.985 60' and then I told my cousin to get outa the car (he weighs 250 lbs) so I could see what I could do without him and that's when I hit my fastest.
I spun at the end of 1st and the shift into 2nd and hit the rev limiter about 20 ft. before the end of the track. (so I know I could do a little better)

60'------ 1.947
330----- 5.491
1/8----- 8.319
MPH----- 87.05

I've deffinately learned how to launch the car a hell of a lot better tonight. I had another run in the 2.0 60'.
My very last run I spun through first and had to let off but still ended up with a 8.799 @ 86.63 mph (with cousin in car)

I think it's deff. capable of lower than an 8.2 @ at least 88mph. I've done a whole lot better than last time.
Also, keep in mind I have a G35c w/ navigation, etc. so it's at least 200lbs heavier than a Z.

Very nice improvement. Your car still has another 3-4 tenths in it for the 1/8th mile with a really good launch. 1.94 is pretty decent though. Your trap speed is still pretty slow though, not sure what's causing that. Probably slower than optimal shifting would be my guess. You should probably be trapping about 90mph in the 1/8th I'd say with your power level.

In order for me to hit 90 I'd have to shift into 4th for almost a second which is probably slowing me down. I'm not the fastest shifter in the world so that is probably holding me back. Also, my car weighs a good 3500 w/o me in it so that isn't helping either. I think I might be able to get in the 7's or really close with some more practice though.

rt .196
60 ft 1.799
330' 5.354
1/8th 8.288

These are my times at irwindale. I for sure have less power than you with my stillen stage 2 but I have had 6 month of practice on drag radials to dial my time in. Drag racing actually does take practice a more practice driver can beat a faster car with a less practiced driver. Get some drag radials and fix that 60 ft and you should run mid to high 7's like mrtomcat in his TT 350z. I think he ran a 7.7 at irwindale.

Only problem is I don't want to step into drag radials. I'd like to satisfaction of doin it on my 19's like I am right now. No offense to you guys that use them but that's how I feel. Plus when I launch that hard, it already feels like im on the verge of breaking something.

I understand I am worried about my clutch and drive train. cross my fingers no prob yet and i have at least 100 runs in. I run my 19's on the street and my 18's for drags. Its kinda a pain to change the tires out every 2 weeks or so. If youever run drag radials you will ask yourself why didnt I do that at first. Ill see you down there soon we can do some runs together and compare technics to improve our times. I just went stage 3 hopefully I can run even faster times.

You have run some impressive time, congrats to you.

I bought the stillen with the thought of carb eo for california. I'm pretty happy considering.
It is a 1/8 th track. One of the better ones in cali. it as close to sea level we can get. Its a shame its not 1/4

You might also be shifting too slow.

I suggest 1) invest in some DR's 2) get a line lock for better burnouts and above all 3) Practise, Practise, Practise.

Drag Racing is not as easy as it looks, it takes experience

lol....I didn't see that there's a page 2

I usually run 7.75 at Irwindale trapping around 92 to 94 mph 60' between 1.66 and 1.75 on ET Streets though.

^ are you on stock 18's? ET streets = street tires or diff. kinda street tires?
Sorry I only know what street tires/slicks are...
Also, how much whp and tq?
I agree, I'm not the fastest shifter in the world but I shall practice some more.
