Default Bone Stock Base Runs 2006

Went to the track last night to get some stock base runs in...car was definatly not ready for the track (880mi on the clock) and probably isn't broke in completely, so I was short shifting.

Bone stock 06 base, stock tires (40psi), few odd's n' ends floating around inside the car too.

First run was a wash, my foot slipped off the clutch and I had a nice sidways run to the 1/8...was fun but not fast.

Went right back into the staging lanes for my next run:

60: 2.099
ET: 14.06
MPH: 97.23

Got the launch correct on that one so I went back into the lanes for a 3rd run:

60: 2.014
ET: 14.009
MPH: 96.58

Let the car cool for about an hour and the plentium was STILL so hot it burned my hand (damn that thing gets hot):

60: 2.111
ET: 13.950
MPH: 97.65

It was very humid wich would account for some of the slow trap times...but MAN is it slow. I've watched other stock Z's trap at 103~...6mph more. I'm hoping that more breakin time, along with lower humidity will help that out, but Jesus...97mph...wtf. I guess me short shifting could be some of that too, but 97mph...wtf...haha. Anyhow:

There was a 96 LT1 Z28 that said he normally runs 13.5's at 103~ at that track but last night he said the best he could muster was a 14.1 at 99mph...so I wasn't the only one not happy.

This is your first time at the track with the Z? I wouldn't pay too much attention to the numbers except the 60-foot times. 2.0X seconds is impressive. Good show.

Nice job man. I dont get why you would race your car, and not go 100% though. I dont think short shifting affected you all that bad your 13.9 is better than 90% of other stock 06's Ive seen.

Oh yea...and a full tank of gas too...I think I can get a 1.9x 60' out of it with a little more practice, so a 13.7-13.8 isn't out of the question bone stock (with less gas in it of course). However the MPH really bothers me...as that's in direct relation to HP.

Making me search for my slip....fast run:

60: 2.110
1/8: 8.996
MPH: 78.55
1/4: 13.95
MPH: 97.65

Shifting at 6500...shifted to 4th right before finish each time. We just got it through the official breakin this weekend...1400mi on it now. Tomarrow it gets switched to Moble 1 full synthetic engine oil and Redline in the trans and rear end. I'll be back at the track next weekend with 32psi in the tires and 1/8 tank of gas, going for a 13.7 before we start modding (I'm going to keep it in 3rd to the end). Also looking for a baseline dyno before we start modding too.

That mph still bothers me...is there anything in the ECU that hampers performance untill the official breakin (I'm hoping so). I know my buddy bought a HEMI Ram and it wouldn't rev over 4500rpm for the first 1000mi, then the ecu automatically upped the limit!! Kind of cool and keeps boneheads like me from doing dumb things...like going to the track with 800mi on the car...hahaha.

No you can rag these cars with 1 mile on them, no ecu holding you back. Your 1/8 trap and times seem ok. Whats your 3rd gear go to mph wise @ redline? Most Z's do 20-21 mph in the 2nd 1/8 mile, Ive never seen one do less than 20mph the last 1/8. Dont expect too much more power over 6500rpm's, but god luck next time and keep us updated....

So at what rpm did you launch and did you experience any wheel hopping...?

4500-5000 rpm for the 2.0x 60's, no wheel hop no spin

Find the rev limiter on your car, and then run it to there and see what happens to your traps. I bet they go up.

Either doing base dyno runs this weekend and another try at the track the week after for bone stock runs....or track this weekend and dyno next... Just did the switch to Mobile 1 synthetic today after the breakin period has been reached, so I feel comfortable taking her to the limit next time out.

Personally I would have waited until break in, but its your car, I hope you run your 13.7! Your 06 redlines at 7K, I think you will improve your mph, I did 102mph with my current mods...

5,000 rpm is absurd. I think that someone is pulling someones leg.

the biggest thing hurting your traps was the fact that you were shifting just before the finish. Just by holding 3rd you would have probably seen another 2 mph.

How can you possibly cross the finish line at the top of third gear?
