Default Ran a few 1/4 mile passes outcome kind of dissappointing

Hey guys I ran my car the other night at a local dragstrip. I was very unhappy with the numbers I put up and I was wondering if these are out of the norm. My best time was a 14.481 at 98 mph reaction time was .285. I know my reaction time was not the greatest but I thought I could put down better times than I did. My car has a AT and 20" wheels, is this the reason it is so slow? I was thinking I could get in the 13's. The only mod I have is a pop charger. My question is are these numbers really crappy or should I be happy with them.

Why would you even attempt to drag race a car with 20" wheels and an AT? You're not exactly built for speed. Scan the time slips so we can see what happened. Also, reaction times don't affect your 1/4 times. Your time starts after you trip the lights so it doesn't matter if you cut a perfect .000 or .500 (depending on how lights are set up). I don't need to hear the crap from everyone that AT is better for drag. When you get 1000+hp then talk about ATs.

it depends on the drag strip...at ceciel county, on wed your reaction time matters, on fridays and saturdays it doesnt...so it does depend

and that sounds about right for an at with 20's...maybe u could of shifted a little better with the manumatic

Tk that was funny I realize I am not built for speed but I wanted to have some fun. I am trying to scan the slip in now, hopefully I can figure out how to post it.

yeah, 20's and 5AT is not a good combo. Most guys with 19's and 5AT run about 14.1

I think I felt it spin when I slapped the autostick into 2nd but not sure the damn Mustang next to me was too loud to hear or feel anything but his obnoxious exhaust.

Sorry im not trying to jack your thread... but if you thinkg YOUR disappointed... i ran a 13.2XX @111 on may 5th.... and i have a heavily modded Z and i gutted it before the race. Although i have a piston ring leak and its running like **** i was really hoping to stay in the high 12's... Best time has been 12.02X (dont be too disappointed) this is the first time i ran in front of a ton of people i knew and it was the worst run ever..

doesnt matter if we are talking 1000 plus hp like you stated or 100 hp

but i agree with all else... those heavy *** cinderblock wheels you have are killing you

I guess. My time slips have a time for the 1/4 independant of the RT. RT is more for racing heads-up, not getting your 1/4 times. I have time slips where my my 1/4 was better but still lost because my dumba$$ was listening to the radio instead of staging but those were for heads-up races where crossing the line first gets the win, not the 1/4 time.

They shift consistent but they also shift slower (until you start making that 1000+hp and move over to a two speed).

After reviewing your timeslip and recalling many nights at the track, you should be happy. The typical 350Z driver isn't worth more than a 14.4 in a 6MT with 18" wheels anyhow. Plus the guy in the 6MT is burning up his clutch and spinning or bogging off the line also. You just take your time during that 2.2 60'er.

lol... thats funny.... i can think of one person running a glide (2 speed trans) in here. but several running 3 speed (th350 and th400) and ALOT running factory trans with a converter and vb (valve body). none of them shift slower than a person shifting a manual trans.

have you ever been in a car that has a vb upgrade and a bigger stall? the shift is instantanous

i have a 700rwhp camaro with a 400 on the brake and i run in the low nines.
my buddy has a turbo firebird that spins on the dyno at 960 rwhp on a t56 from a viper. he has been 9.80 one time. usually runs 10.20s with his 6 speed car. im running half the power and knocking on the door of the 8's in my auto car because it shifts faster and have less shifts to make

2 speed and 3 speed..yes, they shift fast. VB upgrade for 350Z....haven't seen one worth a damn yet. Like I said, I don't know many swapping out their trans for 2 speed or 3 speeds in lower hp cars. I imagine it can be done but I don't see anyone doing it other than high hp cars.
