Drag Race Question?
What RPM's do I Launch at? my Z only has a CAI so no seriouse mods. And stock wheels.
Do you guys recomend power shifting? (Not releasing the gas peddal when shifting?
what PSI should I have my tires at?
Any other addvice you can give will really help!

Hey another Z owner from OR!!! Well the RPM for launching I believe is somewhere around 2-3k? If you search around you would find a lot of threads about this. Also if you PM *roast* I'm sure he would help you out. I mean he is a Pro and all.
That guy 'Alberto' on here has a twin turbo Z, and from what ive seen from his vids and posts, he seems to know a LOT about launching and power shifting.....i think he has a video up on the video forum.
Uh.. that guy 'Alberto' does NOT have a TTZ.. and he HAD a TN ST Z (his engine blew recently). He knows as much as the rest of the drag racing gurus. He's no racing god, contrary to what everybody thinks. He's always on drag radials and not streets at the track, hence his awesome times. He posts up a lot of his videos up on streetfire, so if you wanna see him go search for Alberto on streetfire.

CU - You're right. He is a respected member and has lots of kills and evidence to back it up. He's not the only powershifter, however. His location helps him out tremedously. I'd like to see him do what he did down here in TX weather..
oman - If you REALLY wanted help on your drag racing skills, you would just click on over to the drag forum and start reading other people's posts.. I believe davidv already told you this.

40 psi cold in the rear and do a 5k rpm drop, thats the exact opposite of waht alberto does so give it a shot.
Drag forum and more info. We need to know mods, tire sizes and type.
reduce weight by taking out all unecesary things. The passenger seat is only 4bolts and a few clips. You can remove spar and tools as well.

Hey 181 BluZ, no need to be a smartass unless you really are my #1 fan.
I do drive for a living, so yes, that makes me a professional driver. I have posted the timeslip from my first run in my stock Z along with all the conditional variables. I have also posted several one handed videos demonstrating my ability to use the gearbox.
I don't think that leaves any room for a nub like you (or anyone else for that matter) to talk smack.
I will always offer help to someone who needs it, so the PM offer you spoke about stands.

Yes you can get 2.0 second 60-foot times from street tires. Just vary your technique and psi until you get the results that you are happy with.
Advise is great but nothing beats practice.
LOL @ this thread
Oman-I had good results on stock tires with 27psi in the rear-cutting mid 2.0 60ft's. Try doing a quick slip at around 2500-3000rpm's off the line feeling for a good balance of spinning and traction, you dont want a ton of spinning, and don texpect a dead hook on street tires. As far as powershifting its up to you, I dont go around telling people to do it or that its necessary, its a personal preference when shifting. A good lift throttle shift will work just as well, having said that Id prolly advise you not to do it. Other things to remember, run your car with almost no gas in it. When your DTE light is flashing ---> - - - and its saying you should have no miles left to drive, you really have 2-2.5 gallons of gas. Try to run it as light as possible. Also, take out your spare and tools and hopefully you'll see 13's. Good luck.

oman: I personally have spent hours after hours reading the posts in the Drag forum. There is A LOT of info there that can be absorbed. In this forum it seems that the one's doing it already (not asking where to launch) are : Alberto, DavidV, Audiblemayhem, and few others that slip my mind..that being said these are the post I personally look for when ready thru the 1000's of posts there. I am new to the forum, but not new to racing.
I know from experience, and my readings here that you will have to play with tire pressures and RPM's until you get the end result you are looking for. (Sorry Alberto, same thing you said). And to quote fromt he posts, "practice, pratice...and the go to practice"

Hey davidv, I know this is going a little back for you Im sure, the date on the slip says Sep. 4 05, but the slip all the way to the right, did you spin second gear a little or miss the gear? Just curious why that one had the second best 60' but ended with the worst ET and trap. The only thing that stands out to me is your 1/8th mile time and speed which are down.
