Default First trip to the track..

well my 03 touring is bone stock, and when i got to the track i saw about 3 other zs there, none of them breaking into even 14s. so i went up for my first run, **** nervous, spun through first gear, 16.3xx at 99mph, i was so disappointed in my first run, so i staged again. messed up even worse, ran 16.7xx. boy was i bumming out. then my last run before the track closed, i pulled it together and ran what i thought was awesome for my first time at the track (left lane)

there we go...

Not too shabby for your first time out in a stock car.

Did you have your spare? Did you adjust tire pressure? How much gas? What was the weather like? 90ft elevation(lucky dog).

14.0 seconds is a good job. When the weather is cooler in September, take a helmet. You will be running 13.99 seconds or better.

You'll be in real good shape with a 2.0 60ft.

I'm so jealous of all the people living in the northern states..

Good times for your first time out and definitely a big improvement on your 3rd run from your first two.

And to add, with a respectable 60-foot time you will be running better than 13.90 seconds.

You need to find a good balance of wheelspin and traction. Every car/track/event will be different but what worked for me stock was the following...

27psi in rear tires, and a very quick slip - or slow drop, how ever you want to look at it, out of the hole at about 2500-3000rpm's. This gave me 2.0 60ft's and enabled me to run 13.77 and 13.80 stock. Even with a mid 2.1 60ft you should be 13.9's your very close....Good luck.

I cant lauch lower then 3000rpms or I bog. I usually try to launch at about 3500 rpm. I have yet to see how effective this is for me at the track though. Im gonna try it out real soon though.

2500 to 3000 is ideal for stock with a slow drop "dont side-step". 2.1 60' with some wheelspin netted me a 101 trap with 32 PSI and everything in the car.

That's because you're just dumping the clutch. You shouldn't bog down. Feather it a little.

In fact, go to a nearby drag strip and try it out and you'll learn.
