MT drag radials vs Nitto drag radials
How do the MT drag radials compare to Nitto drag radials? I have some 255/50-16 MTs and they bogged me down off the line. Ive been told that the Nittos wouldnt be as sticky and be a better tire for my car. Something like a 245/45-17. Thoughts?
First off, when you say "nittos" do you mean the 555R ?
Care to elaborate on this?

For my car I just need something a little better than street tires.
the 555rs i had before have a 400 treadwear, they suck...
if you really want a nice street tire that hooks, look at the BFGs, if you want a tire on some rims just for the track, MT all the way..

I know a guy with an H/C full weight 6spd LS1 bird that cuts high 1.6s and low 1.7s all day long on his 555Rs - he said he thinks that they recently changed the rubber compound on the 555R because his latest set (that he just put on about a month ago) is quite a bit stickier than his previous two sets.
Anyways the 555R isn't the best but it's not a bad compromise between street tire wear and traction for the track. It definately ain't an MT on the track though. I have the 555Rs and they are worlds better than even high end Z rated tires on the track on my car - they are no problem in the rain and also wear well - I've got probably 40 passes and burnouts on them and about 8000 miles and they have about 3/32nd left - MOST of that wear occurred in a single 4 day span after I did suspenison changes on my car and didn't immediately get an alignment (1.7 and 1.9 deg toe out on either side). Were it not for those 4 days I am convinced I could get through this year and half of next year on the same set of tires (say 15000 miles and another 50 track passes).

IMO, they were a great set of DRs for my first season of track experience (my 555Rs have a treadwear rating of 250), I could easily do 50 more runs on them as well

I already tried that and I actually ran slower. If I remember right when I first got them you had told me that I would bog and you were right.
