The majority of the TCs they sell are 2,600-3,200rpms. Anything more is a waste and deterimental to performance unless the LS motor has been built to rev to 7500rpms and the power band is shifted from 4000-6300rpms to 5200-7500rpms.

my roomate has a YANK PT 4400 He had a yank pt4000 that the snout cracked off of and tore the flex plate and tranny up on the dyno. he also had a 4200 and before that a 3400. The 3400 was way to small to cut a good 60 in his car. As I stated before switching to the 4k+ stall dropped this times form a best of 11.98 (99% 12.0s) to 11.60s. Yeah that sounds like it hurt performance.
I also have friends who with boltons were running 12.2 at 110 with their 4000 stalls (intake /full exhaust)
Either you are out of touch with the ls1 world.. Or maybe it just is true what they say
Everything is bigger in texas. And faster.

Yea the c6Z06 is freaky fast man...
But you cant really doubt it..majority of the magazines have gotten 124-125 mph trapps out of bone stock C6Z06's..With a few hitting 126-127 mph trapps.....
So on a negative 800 DA day with a great driver at a great track 129 mph is quite feasable...And so is the 10.8..
As much as I hate admitting it ( being a viper owner) the vette is bad a$$ and I dont think any Viper or ford GT is gonna touch that one for a while...
I know for a fact that the fastest gen 2 Viper on DR's only did 11.3. And the srt10 hasnt beaten that time yet...
The ford GT would have a chance but their just arent enough of them out their with great drivers trying to push the envelope.

I'm late to this but was referred by another thread.
I noticed the rear wheels are not stock either. How much lighter could those be than stock? Also, is it a smaller than stock wheel? The overall diameter would also change his gearing.
Plenty of VHT on that track....no wiper fluid, 1 gallon of high octane, trunk items removed, maybe an accessory belt removed. Classic MM&FF prep....

Yes, the 2800rpm stall converters are quite common among the LS1 crew. Now if you're talking about LT1s then you'd want to go a little higher (low 3000s). If you're building a more drag focused, non-daily driver LS car, then you can take advantage of a little more stall and squeeze some low to mid 3000s.
As for your buddy's "4400rpm" stalled LS6, BS. Why in the living hell would you go with a stall like that in LS1-LS6 car? Is your friend an idiot? Does he not know a thing about matching the right stall speed to the power delivery of the motor? A 4400rpm stall would put the car way too deep into the powerband therefore hurting performance.

Help me understand why you would put a higher stall converter in an engine that has a lower rpm range.
Of all the guys I know running stalls in ls1s, I think 3200 is the smallest I know of. 3600 is very common as are the 4000. One guy here local is running a 4400 stall with a cam and bolt ons. He has been in the low 11.4s all motor with that stall. He improved his times by about a tenth when he switched from the 4000 stall.
the reason why Ranger's shifts sounds so slow is that the bypass valves are closing between his shifts making them sounds slower.

back to topic...I too am a little skeptical about the Vette but the car is very refined and practiced with power delivery, gearing and purpose built in it's 6th configuration. Afterall it went through all it's major tuning at the "Nurb"
