Are you saying a Z with full interior needs 135mph trap to run 10's? By who's standard? We have options, but $4000-7000 for the GTM gearset isnt "ideal".

I like the IDRC specification of what qualifies as a True Street Car (see True Street section)

http://importdrag.com/2006%20IDRC%20...egulations.pdf

That is my personal goal to hit 10's like that.
Of course you're not allowed to hit that without a roll cage so that no matter what, it'll have to be there....besides it adds weight so I see having a cage more of an handicap.

Everyone has differend goals and Jeremy's car is simply awesome. Eventually I know I will follow his footsteps because I know I'll wanna go faster...it never ends I'm glad he's paving the road for us so that we can avoid some common failures

im saying, if you want to do it with a low mph you are going to go through trannies from what i have seen on this board. just like if i want to go fast in my car, the stock t5 wont hold up to my shifting and mid to high 400rwhp chasing 10sec passes....SO, unless you have a car that is going to cut mid to low 1.7s, lift to shift and have a bunch of mph to make it up going down the track, you know what im saying. pretty much like jeremy's car now, but with a good driver

he can say that cause he knows me... and he shifts like my one armed grandfather in his 1978 5 speed Ford

jackie , low 1.7s??? haha need more than that, i had two 1.64s and 1.65s, if i had a good clutch, i could trap a lot higher, im sure full street trim Zs putting down high 500s will hit 10s all day. you will have to rape the gears cause 4 shifts is a lot in any car, but on the other hand you cant rape them too hard cause you will break 3rd...

thanks guys, i am not trying to start stuff, just all the debates on this. i drive it on the street all the time. we can all pick apart stuff, like for instance, anyone bolting on slicks at the track isnt truely their street form.

so anyways, its all for fun so who cares!! im just glad i can share what i am doing in a positive way, create some business, and drive a really fast car around!!!

Your car looks so menacing in black with drag radials!

it takes a lot more power than in a regular 10 second car to get there cause most of them are solid axle rears, our IRS hurts us pretty bad, similar setups in the same cars can pull 1.4s all day.

driver is important, but setting up the car is even more important. everyone will see here soon when they all get out to the track and do some runs. i know that my runs were power limited for sure. so i cant really say what i would do if i was running say 18-20 psi and the clutch wasnt slipping.

either way, its fun for sure!!

as soon as any of you guys hit 11.49 at a real track, well you will have to have a 5 point roll bar. that consists of a main hoop, to rear stabilizing bars and a drivers door bar for the least. this is another problem cause you will be adding another 50 or so pounds to the pig of a car these already are. i just went with a full cage so i dont have to gut my car out again it have it down for weeks.

i really cant wait to see more good times. this is really just the beginning and i hate that i am power limited, i think the stock tranny can go low 10s....

Compared to what.... a civic? Try doing it in the latest Cobras or GTO's.......3800+ pounds with driver at the very least.

BTW, we have some "real" tracks here that loosely enforce the 11.49 NHRA standard.

trailering a car to the track just keeps you from making a bunch of trips back and forth WHEN it breaks

Street cars have AAA cards, race cars have trailers.

Used it twice last year on my Cobra (Transmission Output Shaft, Driver Side Half-Shaft).

I guess I was lucky this year and drove home every time.

How about this - if you can take your grandmother to lunch after picking her up from the airport in the car without her making a negative or questioning comment about the car it's a street car. You can't go pick her up in a car with no interior, no sound deadening, an exhaust she can't hear or talk over, a roll bar she is possibly going to hit her head on or a cage she is going to have to climb over, you have to go search for a certain gas station because you can't run the car on regular pump gas, etc. I'm not only talking about Audible's car here, I know his car only has some of these things - but these are many of the things I take into consideration when determining if a car is a street car or a streetable race car.

If you can't give your grandmother a ride in it comfortably, it isn't a street car. My opinion.

sorry but thats pretty stupid.

anyone with a fast car puts up with a good deal of tempermentalness. Also you wont hit your head on a properly designed roll bar so that is not even an issue. There are stock cars with roll bars in them.

By your rules anything with out a/c is not a street car, and that is bs.
