Default Is the 350z faster with our without the VDC

i was wondering about this question. i was going to go to the track this weekend and see what the car will be running in the 1/4. Would there be a difference if i took off the vdc?

I know this is a simple question but was looking for more of a complex answer. thanks.

TCS not VDC, will affect the 350Z at a drag strip.

VDC should be OFF.

New racers may run a couple of times with VDC ON just to get accustomed to the staging pad. After you feel comfortable, run with VDC OFF.

You want VDC turned off. That will turn off TCS and prevents power-cutoff in the event of a wheel slip. If your car is stock, turning off VDC does not disable VLSD, which is probably what you want. VLSD will provide better grip on your launch. --Spike

wrong. Leaving vdc will def add time to the e.t. Once the tires slip, it cuts power and you dont acellerate.

No, he's correct. It's TCS that kicks in, not VDC. VDC doesn't really come into play in straight-line driving. On the road course, that's where VDC kicks in.

still vdc dave. My car is equipped with vdc, the vdc light comes on under slipping/cuts power at the strip/autox. VDC>TCS, traction control is integrated into the VDC.

Itd be nice to have a button to turn off just the tcs instead of the full vdc, but we dont have one. Breaking tires loose is ok, but getting sideways at the strip its dangerous.

I shut my VDC off when I went to Waterford/Grattan....

I always shut it off actually, unless it is REALLY bad out then I will leave it on...

Sometimes when it's really cold out and I try to really get on it the VDC will kick in and totally bog down my engine to the point of full cut-off so you definitely can go faster with it off...the reason it did it was bc it was cold and it sensed my tires would've spun with the massive amount of power being distributed, haha!

Technically, it's not VDC. Both VDC and TCS share the same lights on the dash and are controlled by the same switch but functionally they are totally different.

TCS looks for wheel speed differences between the front and rear wheels and mainly adjusts the throttle to control wheels spin. It can also manipulate the brakes.

VDC looks at wheel speed differences between ALL wheels, the steering angle and the Yaw/G-force sensor then mainly uses the brakes to control the stability of the car. It can also manipulate the throttle.

I've had VDC kick in on me a couple times on a road course and I never lost power/throttle, it was all braking.

I wished it was reversed, so that it was always off. And when I need it, I press the button. I hate it when it kicks it.

Check out http://www.kptechnologies.com/
They sell a module you can hook up to your Z to allow you to keep it turned on or off when the car starts.

You can crash "faster" without VDC.

I don't need the ECU to help me drive my car. If you can drive a musclecar with 500lbs wtq in the rain and ice you don't need VDC.

Whenever I drag, auto-x, or track, unless its slick out, in which case I wouldn't be dragging, I turn TCS/VDC off.
