Default 1st time at the track

5/9/07 ORP Indianapolis 75 about degrees

Tuesday night was my first real attempt at driving a stick at the drag strip. I got in 5 runs totall and overall had a great time. I'll scan my slips later, but here they are for now.
run #1
60ft 2.246
330 6.065
1/8 9.246 @ 77.16
1000 11.925
1/4 14.209 @97.97

run #2
60ft 2.418
330 6.291
1/8 9.507 @ 76.33
1000 12.204
1/4 14.482 @98.90

run # 3
60ft 2.19
330 6.074
1/8 9.275 @ 76.7
1000 11.962
1/4 14.243 @ 98.03

run #4 Lowerd tire pressure from 38 to 28
60ft 2.309
330 6.110
1/8 9.260 @ 98.81
1000 11.917
1/4 14.181 @98.81

run #5 Missed second gear, but still finished wot
60ft 2.321
330 6.692
1/8 10.084 @73.15
1000 12.861
1/4 15.203 @94

My 60ft times are crap due to excessive wheel spin.
I was launching at about 3-3.5k rpm

I have been told that orp (formerly IRP) is somewhat of a slow track by some of the locals here in indy. I felt as if i got more wheel spin at the track than i do on the street.

note: i went around the water box and did not heat up the tires because i forgot to pull the break fuse

The Z is running OK picking up 21 MPH in the last 660 feet. You have a problem with 60 foot time. With 2.0 60 foot times, I can see 13.99 seconds or better. But it is going to take a lot of work. 275 mm tires may not be an asset.

HAha, and then when we catch them missing a shift and running over 16 seconds we can post them for them too. Haha.

the 15.2 was kind of fun though, because i was next to a riced out civic, so when i missed my shift i let off and he caught up so i stayed next to him for a sec and then got back WOT and pulled on him so hard.....he ran mid 16s... he wouldn't look at me afterwards

Im not sure if you new wheels are heavier or lighter then your stockers. If your stockers are lighter, then you should give it a try. As long as they still have good tires on them.

i think they are lighter since they are 17s and they have plenty of tread but i thought that the bigger wider tires would help with wheelspin. i'll have to try them next time

Wider tires do help, but heavier rims I would say would hurt more. Besides, you are N/A, its not like you need that much tire as long as your setup is good enough.

My 19's have 275 tires on them and I dont have to launch my car the same way I did with my stocks. I can floor it and I wouldnt spin at all. I consistantly get 2.0 60's with them too. I went to the track last night and ran 14.0 with just 19 inch rims and thats it.

i am going to switch back to my stockers next time, also i found out that on tuesday nights IRP does not prep the track at all so that is why i am having such a hard time gaining traction. I am going to try on a different night or even a different track
