Tany, moroso is notorious for being slow I wouldnt worry about it. Everytime I go there the z's are running 14.1 on average. Plus you are new to the slicks. Last time i was there I ran a 13.4 on DR's. What pisses me off is my buddy lost my time slip and I cant even post it

 

wow, 13.4 is pretty good. thats what i was looking to run, low 13's.
but yeah, all the z's were running horrible, i felt like a celebrity out there with my times..lol even FI cars were running pretty bad times imo.

You said your first run with a 3000 rpm launch got you a 2.020 60'. In your second run with a 5000 rpm launch, you only got a 1.977. So looking at just the 60' alone, I don't know what you were expecting. It's your launch that was to blame, not the weather. If it was the weather, it would've shown in all your runs as the weather doesn't just change dramatically that fast (unless you're in TX). Your launch only improved .043 seconds. It seems like either you're bogging or your slipping the clutch too much. Plus, this is your first time on slicks, correct? You just need to get used to them. I'm still a noob with slicks as I only have 10 runs with them, but they seem to be easier to work with than streets. So, just keep practicing and adjusting your launching methods along with the tire pressure. You'll be fine.

 

correct, this is my 1st time on slicks. i wouldnt slip the clutch, i just stright dropped it. I think if i would have launched at 6k i would have broke 13.5 or so plus i think i needed to raise the psi just a bit cause at the top of 2nd and through 3rd the car was wobbling to much, it felt like i was running on sandles...lol I was expecting atleast mid to low 13's, not high 13's!!!

plus i wasnt blaming the weather, i just said that it was hot and the 2hr drive probably didnt help me at all.

 

Yeah, your slicks are pretty huge (I saw that thread a while back). I think 15 psi may be a bit too low. Try around 18-20 and then work from there. That's what I've been doing.

Also, don't just drop the clutch. That's how you break things. You should slip your clutch out. Let us know how everything works out.

I ran my best NA time at moroso, I think it's a fair, neutral track. I ran a 13.79@100mph 2.022 60' on 19" street tires, only mod was a pop charger with the full sound system intact. I removed the passenger seat, spare, jack and tools though.

Sorry bro I don't know what it was about that launch, but the tires just dead hooked with a ~3300rpm clutch drop, the shítty stock clutch slipped with pedal completely out until about 1000rpms before redline, redlined it, powershifted to 2nd and it gave a nice spin-chirp, that's when I was like oh yeah, this is gonna be a good one lol

 

moroso isnt a slow track, i would say its an average track for times.



you need to do a good burnout and launch like you are trying to break some stuff...

 

I guess you launch differently then us Jeremy. I would say its more of a quick slip/drop of a launch. Not really a slip, but not really a drop. Does this make sense to you 3hree5ive0ero? You seem to know what Im saying.

 

Like I said, when it comes to slicks, I'm still a noob. I tried dropping the clutch and it just didn't feel right. It didn't seem to give me a better launch neither, however it was on a different day.

And yea, I launch by slipping the clutch a little bit, but I don't do it slow. My best launch was a 1.896.

Also, with Audible, you have to remember that his car was gutted to hell (2700 lbs, IIRC?). On top of that, he launched on nitrous when he had TT. So he's always launching with more power and less weight. Don't expect to get the numbers he gets. I'd say if you can get into the 1.8, then you're fine.

 

With a 1.8 60ft I would be happier than a kid in a candy store. I feel that if i were to raise the psi to about 20lbs and get a good launch with good shifting i could hit 13.5 or lower. I just had the psi to low(15), and the car just didnt have enough down time to cool down a bit. Next time around I promise I'll bring way lower times to this forum .

 

I know this sounds rediculous but can you explain to me how a good burnout is performed ? I tried the removing of the fuse and dumping the clutch in 2nd and braking while still mashing the gas, but the car turn off on me .

 

Could you tell me why you'd want to perform a burnout in 2nd gear? I've always done it in 1st.

 

From what i have read in modified mag, chris rado says to burnout in 2nd cause the gear will last you longer and you'll get a better longer burnout. I gave it a try but i guess im just not good at it yet
