Default New PB

Went to the track again this past Friday due to the cold weather, and to see how my wife's new 07 6MT sedan runs. Unfortunately, the track kept shutting down during the night, so we only got one run in, against eachother.

Before I post the numbers, understand that she's a novice. She used to have an 04 5AT sedan that the took to the track frequently. And although she's driven manuals all her life, she's never launched, or raced, one.

Her car is bone stock down to the tires. Her trap is low, but that will come up with some more experience. And her launch is pretty impressive, to me at least. She hit a high 2.1 sixty her first time out in the 6MT. In my 160+ runs on street tires, I hit a 2.1 sixty maybe 12 to 15 times.

My car is an 05 6MT sedan(revup), with stock airbox, k&n filter, mrev+, ichiba headers, kinetix test pipes, stillen exhaust, and utec. I'm sporting BFG DR's, sized 255/50/16. This is the first time I had disabled the ABS so I could perform a burnout. I launched at 6k, dumping the clutch, and spun for the first 30 feet or so. Tires were at 17psi cold.

I haven't taken a picture of the timeslip, but here's the breakout:
Code:
    Cheryl Trey
 60: 2.189 2.082
330: 6.124 5.774
1/8: 9.303 8.813
MPH: 78.16 81.20
1/4: 14.261 13.622
MPH: 98.76 103.63
Notice that with my clutch dump at 6k rpms on DR's netted me a 2.08, and her launch from just off idle netter her a 2.18.

For a sedan, I would absolutely agree with that. Nice car.

on drag radials you can't hit better than a 2.0?

I can hit a 1.9 and lower on street tires. < never netted the best times though.

congrats on the new best!

Well, I'm launch-retarded. I've taken this car down the strip over 200 times, and I still can't launch worth a damn.

Practice launching, the higher the rpm doesnt mean the better/harder the launch. Very cool that your wife not only goes to the drag strip but races with you!!

Lol. What do you think I've been doing for those 200+ runs? That has been my practice.

My wife took her 04 5AT down the strip about 100 times before she got rid of it. And she goes to the local autox's occasionally, and the dyno days and other get-togethers.
