have any of you tried using drag bags to help with wheel hop? the only one's i've found are made for gto's, but i don't see why they wouldn't work for our cars
i read up on them briefly on a gto forum and from what i read, they seem to work on gto
there is a link to them:

btw, they can be had cheaper than the price on the link, i just went with the first link i could find

I have only heard on them on the GTO's. I would say that if you are having a lot of wheel hop issues, that you get a set of rear diff. bushings, or perhaps a set of adjustable camber arms, and a new launch technique. If Audible ran a 10.4 with his old setup and 12.8 N/A on his old, old, old setup or Alberto with his 11.8 with his old TN and 13.1 with his old, old setup, or 3ree5ive0ero with his 13.2 now, Veetec, and the list goes on. Im just not entirely sure that the Z has such a problem with wheel hop that its a necessity.
Does it happen? Absolutely! Did you do something in your launch that probably caused it, or your track just sucks? Probably!

weird cause with all my experience with my personal car, it would only wheel hop if i floored it in a pretty deep puddle out driving in the rain, besides that, no issues ever ??
drag bags are cool though, we were about to get a set and modify them for the hell of it..

are you still gonna do it or did you change ur mind

this is much cheaper than diff bushings (and install) or camber arms, and i'm not planning on spending any real money on my car till its paid out, and the drag bags are pretty cheap. and your right about adjusting the way i launch, but i'm not a perfect driver, and once in a while (ok, alot) i get that launch with plenty of wheel hop, so this would help minimize damage on my suspension and keep from looking like an idiot, and make it easier to launch

I also don't get much wheel hop when I launch. I've gotten them before, but that was when my tires weren't heated up to temperature and the outside temp was around 50.
I do get wheel hop on street tires every once in a while when I heat them up. But if that happens, I just let off and reheat them. It works fine for me.

My first and last time I took my Z to the strip it wheel hopped so bad I had internal bruising. I was in a good bit of pain for about 1 week. 0 exaggeration.
I get it on the street most of the time as well, but not NEARLY as bad my time at the track.
...and I have run many different cars over the past 7 years at Bradenton.

If you do ever get bad wheel hop like that, GET OFF THE GAS. You are going to break something, its just not healthy.
I have only about a dozen passes at the track with my car, and never had wheel hop. I did spin the crap out of the hole once or twice, but no hop. I very rarely get wheel hop on the street as well. I really think its just how you drive it. I know what to do if I want it to wheel hop, if that makes any sense. I never would want it to though obviously.

sorry man, we are setting up the car for much more serious stuff, we never really had a chance to get them and alter them, when we were looking at them about a year ago, they were still expensive...
Its an alright idea an all, but Im sticking with the fact that its just not that necessary for the Z. There are a lot of Z's that drag race, and only those who struggle mention wheel hop, IMO. I just dont hear about it all that much. I think if you can just get to the track a little more often, and perhaps try a different technique or two, perhaps you will have better success. If it really continues, then I would look for a problem somewhere in your suspension.

If your saying that a solid rear axle is different than an IRS, well, you'd be right. But then I would tell you about an 01 built Cobra and Stage III Saleen, as well as QUITE a few vipers that I have piloted as well w/ no problems.
I may need to look into the suspension of my particular car.
Jason, what tire pressures are you running.
I noticed with the (excessively ) stiff sidewall of the bridgstones, if I drop below 28 psi I get wheel hop and lose grip. If I stay right around 30 my launches are great. I can actually see the difference in marks left on the street too. (backroad practice a while back).
Last week I ran 10+ times, never had above a 14.0 (even on TERRIBLE runs) and never had wheel hop (had it bad before). Every prior week I'd had those with less runs.
