Default Ran my 07 @ PIR

Ran my bone stock 07 touring @ PIR this Saturday night. Best 60 I could manage was a 2.15 and I was leaving rubber going into 2nd gear (!!!???). I guess they don't prep this track for ****. I watched an STI pull low 14's and finally dip into a 13.8 @ 98mph (and he had intake/exhaust).

I used to race my ZX2 and my tC so I've got a bit of experience, but never raced a RWD car. I think I did OK for my first time out. Didn't have any trouble with the clutch pedal sticking to the floor, but I did get a strong stench of clutch on a couple runs. My best was a 13.76 @ 100.96mph (2.15 60ft, 8.962 1/8th mile @ 80.55mph), with a couple 13.8's thrown in. There was a guy in an 06 350 and his best was a 14.2 @ 98 consistently.

I'm going to have to try Woodburn Drag strip when I get a chance... I hear it's a much better track (and actually level asphalt maybe? can't say that about PIR lol).

I'll post it as soon as I can snap a clear picture of it (no scanner, gotta use digicam).

However when I boosted it I don't think any bolt on Z could of kept up with it (but I pushed it so hard on a stock block I think it would of popped pretty soon had I not taken the turbo setup off and sold the car to my brother.. lol).

Yeah, cooler weather will bring even quicker times.

I ran similar times on Friday, at a track known to be slow, and a DA of 2,851.

Congrats on your times.

I was trying to match your 13.3/13.4, but it's not going to happen at this track. As the night got cooler the more traction issues I was having. Good job too on your times btw.

Images of your time slips are greatly appreciated. Honestly, if your talking about a trip to the track, it should be considered a must in the Drag section. We NEED that stuff. I love to look at them. That is a nice slip, and a resonable 60'. I think even with that 2.1 60', in cooler weather your car could hit 13.5 or so. I love 07 Z's!

Thanks. PIR is not a dedicated 1/4 mile track so it's not that great of a track. I'd probably pull a 13.4~13.5 at Woodburn with a 2.1 60, but they run a whole different schedule than PIR and it's harder for me to get there. I was nice to see another Z @ PIR tho, the guys were pretty good.

I had 2500 miles on mine... lol It's about due for an oil and tranny/diff fluid change. I seem to have a problem with scratching 2nd gear half the time I have to shift really quick into it (clutch not disengaging fast enough or maybe my arm is faster than my foot? dunno, didn't have this issue on my tC). Figure I'll change the tranny fluid with some MT90 before I destroy the syncro

I'll have to meet you at the strip some time. I can never get a good launch at PIR, i think all my 60' have been in the low 2.2 second range and my quickest 1/4 mile time stock has been a 13.8 at @101 in my 2006.

Its just a crappy synchro. I have to slow shift second almost every run. I'm losing about .05 to that alone (guessing based on similar runs).

And VeeTec, it makes me feel a lot better to hear that out of you - I was struggling with DA's around 2000 feet and "ok" track prep, managing 13.5-13.6 consistently, but I don't see room for improvement before winter (and the track closes for 3 months to prep for Gator Nationals).
