I find it hard to believe it's a bad syncro... given I can powershift second and not scratch it, but when I try a quick shift when lifting off the throttle I end up scratching it sometimes, but only from redline shifts. Given I don't have a problem from any other rpm or when driving around normally I'm leaning on the fact my hand is too fast for my foot (combined with the car transfering weight to the front helping me ease the shifter out of first before I've even clutched in all the way). I thought about mentioning it to the dealership, but how do I go about approaching explaining redline shifts to them? lol

Congrats on your times.

My dealership said they only had one 2006 (revup) engine issue. The car was driven aggressively (self admitted) by a girl. Her boyfriend drove the car less aggressively and it didn't burn oil, she drove it again and it burned it. The Nissan tech told them that yes its obviously due to some kind of aggressive driving (field engineer mind you), but that its a sports car and Nissan expects it to be driven that way.

I'm still skeptical to complain of grinds and describe them as such, and I *would* have thought the same thing as you (I did actually), but I duplicated my issue without a fast clutch at all (clutch in before I touched the shifter, shifted and ground with my foot buried). This was on the track though, it hasn't ground since, and I don't know how heat would affect the synchro in a situation like this.

See that's the thing... I've never ever had 2nd grind when I paid attention to my shift. When I get in a hurry and a bit sloppy (touch my shifter too soon) I've "scratched" it into 2nd.

Wow, small world! I was there last Saturday night. I help out a friend that races with OMRRA. We had to change his head gasket in the pits that day. LOL

Anyway, I saw you run...I remember the 13.8

My car was parked next to the return road right by the timing shack. Sucked because I stayed on the inside of the track too late and they closed the bridge. Had to walk my *** all the way around the front straight back to my car.....

Yup, I ran several 13.8's, two 14.0's during my first two runs and a 14.3 when I missed 3rd. 13.7 was my best run lol I was very jumpy on the launch, not used to launching this car at all yet, a couple of the runs I got anxious and and put too much throttle into it yielding almost 6k launches/burn outs. I could of done much better, but hey the car had 2500 miles on it and it was my first try at ****ty *** PIR lol

The black Z? I was wondering who it was, good lookin' Z man! I took off around 10pm, no use in burning my poor clutch anymore than I already had. I just ordered some Tein Flex coilovers with hotchki sways and the FI Intimidator exhaust. I decided there's no point in me trying to nail high 12's/low 13's in a stock 07... the better drivers will do it for

He runs a frankenstein cbr900rr in the open classic superbike class. It's a '93 from the triple clamps back. He put a 17" F2 front wheel on it, 1100XX brake rotors, 600RR master cylinder, '99 900rr front forks and triple clamps, and a 945cc Wiseco overbore kit etc..... lol wrong forum.

Yeah they don't do a lot of prep at PIR because it does do double duty with the road course. It's especially bad for the bikes. Nothing like getting a little power slide going coming out of 9, hitting a tacky drag strip and highsiding yourself directly into the air fence and concrete wall.

Yep, the black one. Thanks for the compliment. Sounds like a good start on your mods. I haven't got into that yet. Still stock, just had the windows done. Well, good luck at Woodburn, let me know if you're going out to PIR again (even though you don't sound too impressed LOL) if OMRRA is running I'll for sure be there.

Yeah that's the story I've heard before. But hey you're description of turn 9 sounds like it could be fun

Well I might ***** about the prep as much if the track was at least flat I got lucky this time around and at least ended up in the right lane, the left lane is even worse imo lol

It might be worth noting that PIR is being repaved this fall. While it is difficult for a road course and a 1/4 mile to coexist, I believe some attention is going to be paid to the drag strip. The increasing popularity of the Saturday night drags is part of the reason the track is being repaved instead of sold. So the drag strip should get some love.

Wonderful! Might be worth to give it a few more runs there after they're done then compare it to Woodburn.

Definitely go to Woodburn. My friends and I have always run consistently better times at that track over PIR.
