Default Help....trouble launching

I really need help with launching my car. I usually get wheel hop really bad, either that or I bog it. I've been playing around with the RPMs and how fast I let off the clutch. I've had a couple decent launches which were both at 3k RPMs. I kinda figured out that when I dump the clutch real fast I tend to bog it, so I've been trying to let it out slower, but for some reason the tires usually hop.

Anyway, my car is completely stock, and along with just practicing and working on technique, I would like to buy some mods to help with launching. First mod will probably be Toyo T1Rs. I was then planning on hotchkis springs or tein basic coilovers. Any other suggestions?

Am I wasting my time expecting to launch well on stock tires and suspension or do I just need to focus on technique for now?

I'm really struggling so thanks in advance for any help.

More seat time on the drag race strip is your best bet. The more you practice and try different methods, the better you will become. No two drivers and cars are the same. You have to find out what works best for you.

The way I launch is just keep the rpm at 3k steadily, then when it lights up green, I floor it as I feather the clutch out. It's hard to explain without you knowing exactly how I do it. Again, find out what works best for you. You will get it sooner or later. Good luck and keep us updated.

Experienced racers are running 2.0 seconds or better on street tires: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840-top-25-1-4-mile-times-for-tt-st-supercharger-nitrous-bolt-ons-stock.html.

Think of the start in two steps:
a. Transfer weight from the front of the car over the rear tires.
b. Hit the gas hard.

If it was easy, every 350Z racer would be running 13.99 seconds or better. They are not.

Once you begin running consistent 2.0 second 60 foot times, you will wonder what was so damn difficult about it. You will also find it next to impossible to tell someone else how it is done.

Try lowering your tire pressure to about 25psi. Also, don't be so concerned about your suspension because you want the rear end to squat and stiffer springs will prevent that.

I just think you need a little more practice. Try loading your drivetrain. Lift up the clutch on the line, just to where you can feel that if you lifted the clutch any higher it would roll. You can feel it almost engaging. You hold a desired RPM like that, then smoothly slip it out, and mash the gas. You just got to be smooth about it.

You can try buying all the mods in the world. You just need to practice the RIGHT technique.

the spring rates for the hotchkis springs are actually softer in the rear than stock thus giving a better "squat"

Front 9/16'' (15mm) Drop 340 lbs/in Stock 310lbs/in
Rear 3/4'' (19mm) Drop 330 lbs/in Stock 350 lbs/in

My best 60' with stock tires has been 2.1, at about a 3200 RPM launch. I have found the biggest effect on my 60' times has been track prep, and what kind of cars are running. On nights where there are a lot of cars with big horse power and slicks, I tend to be able to run consistent 2.1's. On nights when there is mostly street tire classes, the times usually jump up into the 2.3 to 2.4 range (and a lot less VHT.....)
