Wow,
I am amazed at how low the weights are.
I will have to have mine weighed in June when we have our first event of the year. I know Nissan for the past few years is trying to reduce the weight of there cars in EVERY way then can. looks as if some of the gains of this are starting to be seen.

it's odd that most Z's are lighter than stated in the brochure by nissan. why would nissan overstate the weight?

because in the business its always better to overstate then understate
Im sure theres some give or take differences so they just wanted a number that will cover just about all the differences that might be out there.

That's crazy! The scale must be wrong. The newer Z's are known to be heavier than the earlier versions. I took my Z to a military scale and weighed in at 3260 after I took out the spare and floor mats, and I had about a 1/4 tank of gas.

the scales are not wrong. These are official tracks where they run ops cars, pro streets, etc and weighing each othese cars are important for scoring and rankin purposes.
I weighed my car during an ops event.

Driver skill > decrease in weight (amount being discussed here anyway)

I'm not sure, but the last time I weighed my Z with half tank of gas with nothing taken out, it weighed 3260 (I'll double check later, when I don't have to walk 5 minutes to get to my car).

I guess it helps understanding why the 07' Z is so much faster than the older ones. I always thought they were heavier, but apparently they are not much heavier, if at all. With the stronger engine, no wonder why the difference is that drastic.

Why does everyone think the 06/07 Z is heavier.

The extra cup holders and change in center console were about it. The variance in engine is hardly hundreds of pounds. The other thing - a lot of numbers are thrown out representing touring weights, most of the lighter numbers are base/enthusiast/performance/track/nismo models.

My '04.5 base weighed 3130 without me in it and a little less than half a tank of gas... the rear interior was partially gutted (60lbs removed, which means in stock form it was well over the 3188 claim)... it's pretty much fully gutted now from the seats back.... its getting lighter and lighter as the diet goes on.....

Me:
My 06 Touring weighed 3240 stock, full tank of gas. As did Gooey's 07 Touring. Nissan BSes their numbers for the Z's weight for some reason. Probably so that they can say in 2009 that the new Z is lighter than the outgoing Zs by a certain amount of weight, when in reality the figure will be much smaller than what Nissan will claim.

You have never seen his car, its loaded with heavy audio equipment, big heavy wheels/tires, etc-its a show car.

Also note my 3125lbs was WITH the addition of the TN kit weight, and my weight reduction

Well that makes more sense. Still, that's a heavy *** Z! Good thing he has that big brake kit.

Stupid Touring trim level.... oh, wait. That's what I have. Dammit!

I've seriously thought about completely removing the AC system. That's got to account for at least 75 lbs of dead weight that I rarely use.

Here's an '07 NISMO that weighed in at 3325 with a half-tank of gas.
https://my350z.com/forum/nismo-350z/347553-went-to-run-the-1-4-but-rained-out-but-weighed-the-nismo.html

Bit of a porker for sure. Do you guys think the weight gain is inline with the NISMO add-ons?
