Default So I went to the track in my NISMO

And not too happy. Temps were around 70s with some headwind. Another HR ran 13.8 that night till his clutch blew out.

I went to the track for the first time in my NISMO and got on the first try a 13.9 at 99 mph. 2.0 60s. Dunno I tried several more times, and got another 13.9 then 14.0s, most were 99 to 100 mph.

Had wheel hop at the launches, so I was having issues there. Running stock pressure 35psi all around. Not sure what I can do to get better times, any advice on this? I launched around 2-3k rpms. Car was stock on these runs.

Might want to drop the tire pressure to help with the launch

Maybe you should try a roadcourse/trackday instead of a 1/4.

Actually I have done half a dozen of those already. And got more coming. Just wanted to see what I could get out of the NISMO at the drag.

Drag's don't interest me that much but wanted to try.

Not really, I was doing a fast slip / release but the back end started to hop pretty much every time. Gotta remember I have 19s in the back so no tire flex.

The additional aero on the nismo z isn't exactly a benefit for drag racing, if anything it would hurt your times vs. a standard z, so don't be too discouraged.

From looking at the slips; you did fairly well. Your 60' was decent on all your runs and your car picked up a over 20 on the back 8th.

Based on the track prep/race conditions, I think you did good and not really too much you coulda done to improve drastically.

I wouldn't be discouraged. What is the best stock run you've seen from HR's at that track?

Looking at the 13.91 second time slip:

The Z is picking up 21.8 MPH in the second 660 feet. That's OK. I think it can do better with a better density altitude.

You have the hard part down. That's the first 60 feet. 2.0 seconds is good.

The problem is the 1/8 mile time and trap. The first to second gear shift is crucial. You have to come into second gear fast and hard.

Yep, and 2nd gear is the one I have been having issues with hitting without grinding. The only other HR's I have seen is Sick Z in his ran 14.1~ and the other HR that was out there ran that night 13.8. This is the same track that Sean Farrah ran that fast time in his Z.

I plan to go back again when they aren't so busy with a event. They had a street warriors event that evening, and it took 45 min to get back up to the line.

Your 2.0 second 60' foot is good.

I don't think I see low 13's in your car though. It could be a problem with your 1st to 2nd gear shift, or it just could be that Nismo Z's are heavier than the standard Z's? I dunno.

If you hit second gear hard, you may get some slide from the rear end. I advise new racers to back off immediately. There is no prize for hitting a wall.

More experienced racers will recognise the slide immediately and make minor steering adjustments. Just like an open road course or autocross.

My car weighed 3325 at the track the first time i went before it got rained out with 1/2 a tank. I ran 3/4 a tank this time, didn't expect to run and ran so it was heavier.

I hit it hard enough to squeel the tires when I shift. Even hit 3rd and squeeled. I mainly race on road courses and autox so I am prepared for that. :P
