First Time on Slicks
then again, that means I most likely won't snap my stock axles...and have less of a chance to blow my stock block with no racing (although i'm still looking for a reason to get over 600hp
)
)
Slicks are pretty hard to master, especially with a radial tire up front. You want ot run them with as much air pressure as you can that hooks properly, without swaying too much down the track. Too much air pressure and youll break em loose..
A 3500 lb car should be good at about 16-18 psi cold...You can go lower if you run front runners/skinnies.
We been running DR's for a while and have cut a few 1.60 60fts on them..Were transitioning next week to full slicks and skinnies.
We went 11.2@130 Friday night on BFG drag radials with a 2.1 60 ft and large 9.5" wide tires in the front..We expect to drop at least 4-6 tenths going to the slicks and skinnies..
Keep up the good work and try lightening the car a bit as well as some skinny tires up front to reduce rolling resistance.

). Bert had me running 14 PSI and it hooked pretty well, and the swaying down the track definitely took a little getting used to, but it wasn't too bad. Any cheap ideas on lightening the car other than spare and passenger seat removal? Oh and if your running 11.2 with a 2.1 60ft I would bet that the car can attain mid to low 10s with a good driver/launch. On slicks you will probably lose .4 on the launch alone. Sounds like a strong running car! Congrats!

A nice 75 shot and you'll be kicking alot of guys a$$.....I have a daughter thats about your age and she is learning to drive my Z so she can start racing. Keep it up..........

Russ is a VERY quick learner. After a few shake down runs he had no issues beating my best NA/slick 60ft. He is awesome at launching, and takes advice well. Good show Russ, better weather at stickier Crapitol will be 12's. I have been messing with a new toy lately and havent even DL'd the video form that night, but I do have your 13.2 on film!! Launching at 6000rpm's isnt an issue if you do it right! Congrats once again.
edit-just read the whole thread...
tires are ET Streets 26 X 11.5" - same one's Ive used NA, ST, and TT
*The tires are not rubbing the fenders, it may appear so but the offsets wont allow that....
Russ I promise by Friday I'll post up your runs.

i was pulling horrible 2.2 and 2.3 60 ft. times on my 19's with nitto 555's, pulling 14.1 at 101 for the most part, just could not get out of the hole. It was 88 degrees out also
. . and that was my first time to the track with the z that i have only had for a month. only had three runs the night ran short cause of rain. I really think i could have went 13's with few more passes, just needed to figure out how to get traction. I was spinning first soon as i stomped it, second pretty good, little third and chirpin fourth. i mean my speed in that weather is good for low 13's. next wednesday i will go at it again with the same tires since i won't have my slicks by then.

You keep thinking about getting slicks, but why don't you work on your own skills first? 2.2 - 2.3 is poor, and 19's isn't an excuse. Work on improving yourself first before trying to take the easy way out (or what seems like it). Trust me, you'll thank me later.
When you can get down to 2.0 - 2.1 consistently on those 19s, then think about it.
Take the advice from people who are more experienced than you. They say things for a reason.
