Default 03 350z vs stock 08 350z

ok so i know the 07+ 350s are a pretty good amount faster than the 03-06s, but how much of a difference is it? both are the touring models, my 03 should at the time of the race have the k&n cai, test pipes, 5/16" plenum spacer, and 20" wheels(which are about 3 lbs heavier than stock per wheel) vs his stock 08(possibly 07), should those mods atleast put me close enough to make it a drivers race? cause this is his first manual car, so i'm sure i'm a better driver than him

He will still have more power than you but with something as short as a 1/4 drag I would consider it a drivers race. A good launch and quick shifting and you could probably edge out a win. You absolutely need to drive better than him though.

20" freakin' rims? Are you kidding me? And you expect to be faster than a stock Z with an HR engine? Unless the other driver can't drive, I'd say you don't stand a chance.

I'd be willing to bet that the 20s are more than 3lbs heavier per wheel.

If your a great driver and he's an okay driver you should be very close. I drive an 03 with bolt ons, i've raced a guy with an 07 (on a closed track) w/ intake tp's, and exhuast and i had him till like 100

yea what was i thinking? instead of racing i should spend more time on forums posting sarah palin sex tapes... loser... and 20' is 20 foot, 20" would be 20 inch

i'm definitely gonna do it, just gotta wait till he gets back in town in 2-3 weeks, just kinda curious if i should throw another 600+ dollars into another mod or two before he gets back or if i'm either close enough or too far away for that to even help, but i probably wont be posting a vid cause street racing = the fail! on this site, even if its on deserted roads

who cares what rims he has on his car, just answer the questions. its his car he can do what he wants. Now to answer your question, i think that he will win unless he cant drive very well at all, but if you plan on running him from a roll on a closed couse do it from a 20 roll in 1st gear that will atleast let you hang with him for a little bit because his top end is gonna run.

first off, do you even own a Z? no? okay so don't worry about whats on mine until you have one, second off i'm on 20" wheels because they came on the car when i bought them, third off i've never had anyone come up to me in real life and say "omg those 20" rims on your car are so ugly, you must run 14"s at the track, blah blah blah" so i plan on keeping them, if you live on the track thats fine but i dont and just like i wouldn't gut my car or drive a civic just to get fast 1/4 mile times, i wouldn't take off my rims to get faster 1/4 times, thats if i ever bother running the 1/4 at a track

oh and right, epic fail, the new term for bandwagon forum goers, yea i fail for having nice rims on my car, which again, is a Z, which again you dont even own... Fail much? i think you do

well thank you, its always nice to have someone actually answer the question being asked, most other people are too busy showing off for their forum buddies

yawn, more of the same, going to race as soon as hes in town, asking questions cause this is a forum, i should i have asked for responses from Z and G owners, would have saved me atleast one stupid response

yea and ideally i want a HR motor too, unfortunately in the world i live in i have limited options, mainly being limited to the car i have and the money in my pocket

Street racing threads are not tolerated here.

Now if you are going to run at a track, lose the 20" wheels, or you will lose, unless the driver is absolutely horrible.

The HR's are making more power stock than the DE's are with bolt ons, so you will need stock wheels, or lighter, and the run of your life, or a mistake on the HR driver's part.

My DE with bolt ons never trapped as high as my HR has stock. I did run a slightly quicker time though, because I had MT DR's on the old Z. Put DR's on my otherwise stock 07, and it's in the high 12's with nothing else, and may get there stock anyway.

Go to the track, post video, and the results here.
