Default Took the G to track..

So went to the track tonight with the G....nothing really good but learned a few things.

Khumo ECSTA MX tires are junk at the drag strip.

On pump I'd spin all through first and second, on race gas I'd spin 1st 2nd, and 3rd...
So on race I basically spun all the way through the 1/8 (which is represeted by not being
any faster to the 1/8 on race than pump)

So I absolutely have to have a tire on this car now for the track, that is obvious.

I also was not launching the car at all (hence the horrendous 60's)

Here are the times from the slips (I'll upload images later)

--------- Run 1----Run2---- Run3---- Run4---- Run5---- Run6---- Run7
60'------2.663----2.517----2.541------------- 2.571----2.502----2.477
330------6.449----6.283----6.355------------6.409----6.586----6.322
1/8------9.220----9.060----9.149-------------9.149----9.816---9.947
mph----- 89.14----90.02----89.63-------------92.11----85.92---69.56
1000-----11.527---11.379---11.466-----------11.359---12.218--12.732
1/4------13.470---13.311---13.384------------13.225--14.159---14.751
mph-----115.85---115.39---115.72---125------122.16--114.41---116.24

Run's 1-3 were on pump gas.
Run's 4-7 were on race gas (25psi of boost)
Run 4 they didn't have a slip for but I was told it trapped 125mph (I have no idea about it though)

Run 6 and 7 the tires were spinning so bad in 2nd that I missed 3rd...ugh
Run 7 is the most intriguing though. Does anyone see why?????
I missed third and accidentally threw it into 5th (ugh), so then I just dropped it down to
4th gear (at bout 63mph) and finished the pull in 4th touching rev limiter at the traps....
Car shows promise with that run, damn thing picked up 47mph in the second 1/8th lol.

Gonna try to get some drag radials before the season is out but not sure if I'll have them in time.

Tom

Is it tires that are so bad? With 250 horsepower its possible to overpower street tires. Couldn't you back off the accelerator a little for better 60 foot times?

I wish it was but not at this level.

Even at 2/3-3/4 throttle in 2nd its smokes the tires. In 3rd its a haze or up in smoke...lol depends on conditions.
at track it wheel hops real bad in 2nd and 3rd. doesn't do that on the street so its a little un-nerving too.

I'll be going back with a good tire don't worry. When this thing hooks up its stupid fast, just need some rubber to help it due some justice.

I used to run a stepped boost controller. Meaning, I would do gears 1-3 in low boost to minimize the spinning, then hit the button for high boost in 4th. It works pretty well. 13.2 at 122 leaves a lot for, uh, "improvement"?

HA, oh i know lol

I had a profec B on a Z31 turbo years ago with the remote button that you could do that with.

With a good tire it won't be an issue, or I just have to bug larry to work on the traction control on the Pro-EFI hehehehe

and i need to grow a pair and not be affraid of breaking something in the drivetrain

Does the Pro EFI have the ability to control the boost based on wheel spin and mph?

I think it does but I'm not sure if I have to be using the PRO-EFI as my boost controller (which I am not right now, I have AEM tru-boost).

I know it will use timing to help cut power.

I'll check with larry

Awesome. I have mine in a Z32TT. Z31s are cool, too!

You need more than drag radials.

If you were spinning so bad I dont know why you would increase boost?

Better luck next time...

It was just to see if i could pedal it enough to find some sort of traction....but no luck.

SP has the new MT Radials and it holds their power (granted they are on a 15 or 16in diameter wheel), so I may try to get a set of those on some light wheels.

Practice makes perfect right lol.

Not a bad idea...i'll be shifting pretty damn early...spins pretty quick.

Think i'm just gonna get more aggressive at the line, get more accellerating done earlier so its not so much of a shock to the tires..

and still get a tire of course

Anyone in chi-town get a set of mounted drag radials I can borrow (gotta clear the stock brembos) lol
