Default 07 VS 03 street legal race????

Hello everyone. Well I got this idea that my buddy an I have been talking about. He owns a 2007 Z (not sure what model but its not base and stock) and swears he can SMOKE my 2003 Z (touring with Tanabe GF210, 65%life 255/40/18 275/40/18, Rotas, K@N filter). I know they are faster but can that extra HP/torque be better than driver?? I am a better driver than he is and have raced my Z many times as he has only been in a few races. Well coming up soon there is a street legal race by my house and he wants to run for 100$ I'm taking a risk and racing him thinking I can grip better and also be a better driver than he will at the 60ft and also the RT. What do you guys think?. Will I win or will his HP/Torque over whelm my little VQ.

hmm if its a heads up race, and ur a better driver, my money will be on the better driver, as long as hes not FI, plus its only a$100, or just say he pays for two tank of gas, that works.

torque is what matters in dragraces, the earler z's have more tourque, the later ones have more horsepower less torque, i have beat an 07z in my 04

these threads are pointless... why don't you and your friend.. "race" and see who wins? wouldn't that be easier?

13.2-13.3 vs. 13.9-14.0. You have to be one hell of a good driver and he has to be one hell of a crappy driver to overcome those odds. It's possible to do because a crappy driver can easily make for a 1-1.5 sec error but again, thats some crappy driving on his part. Simply put his car is faster car vs. car but depending on who is driving can make the difference. Accept that fact that his car is faster but add that with him driving the race probably goes to you. Then just race for fun to find out for sure.

We are but hes a pu$$y and doesn't want to do it unless its at the strip. Any ways you don't got to post if you think this thread is stupid. I'm just asking for people opinions or thoughts about the race not criticizing my thread. Thanks. And I don't care if this thread is brought up over and over again this scenario might be different and YES i didn't my research as usual.

HR is going to leave u even with a bad driver, I learned my lesson on this last week. There lying about the power that those motors make or something...that motor is simply just badass compared to our DE's.

Good luck. Strip out your whole interior and take the doors off and maybe u can make up with some weight loss over his 50+ more Hp lol.

ALso your Z is basically stock?? U dont even have test pipes or a spacer...the 2 things that make our motors slightly faster. Not to mention your still running the stock exhaust..

HR.

I was thinking the same at times but I highly doubt he can get in the low 13's lol I was guessing his launching will be mostly wheel spin and get him in the mid 14's And me getting a low 14's as usual for a good DE driver

The last race I had was with my car which is mods listed in sig with near new 275's in the rear, I can hook up well with the power I have, the HR I raced was a 07 G35 Sedan with the stock 235's I think....He left me for dead especially when he hit 3rd the car just seemed to take off and leave me. I have a newfound respect for the HR motors now. Before I didnt think they where all that but after that last race I think differently.

Just let us know what happens.

uhmm i have an 04, and when i test drove the nismo z, i coudln't tell that much of a difference with the hr, if anything it felt like my 04 had more power, but maybe it could have been because the nismo was still in break in

The track is the best place to race.

If he is a good driver, the HR should win, but it can come down to driving.

I raced a stock 03-04 Thursday night at Carolina Dragway. I went to the track even though we have had a gas shortage, and only crappy gas available. I did have 14 gallons of Exxon 93 mixed in with maybe a gallon or two of 87, and the car never has liked Exxon, but I went anyway, with a little obvious KR going on.

The result, well, they only give you your half of the slip, but it was pretty brutal, I could see him falling back pretty fast, especially up top, in my rear view mirror. My best run was only a crappy gas and launch limited 13.3. Gas is more available now, so after puttin in BP 93, she is running strong again. I don't know what I was thinking, making a few passes with crap gas.

I know I keep saying it, but a 12.9 should come soon, with good conditions and gas.

Those HR motors are pretty good. When i test drove the 08 a few months ago it felt as if my 05 had more power, that feeling ended once I grabbed third. I agree with Vee, an average driver should walk you in an HR. But you never know.

VeeTec,
I sure hope someone pulls a 12.9 stock...it won't be me as I'm going to be needing tires soon and probably won't buy the stock Bridgestones again.

Your quarter mile time speaks for itself.

EDIT: Never mind. I confused you with another member who races.
