Well went to the track for the 3rd time and I just cant get it right..
It seemed like the car had nothing more in it, I was launching at around 1,000. brand new 275/35/19 Eagle F1's in the back. When I tryed to lauch at 3500-4000 it was a disaster, at one point the car actually popped out of gear and I had to stop. Pretty embarrsing. Luckily they werent posting times on the big board lol.
Heres my best time.. Mods in sig..no tune.

1000--12.232
1/4---14.472

I really dont know what im doing wrong, I made over 6 passes and 14.2 was my best.
Suggestions please, and video to come here shortly.

I know that is the ole' rule-of-thumb (.1s in 60' --> .2s in 1320'), but it's too aggressive. More realistically is 0.1s off of 60' --> .15s off of 1320'. That rule-of-thumb was made by wanna-be drag racers who say "my-car-shoulda-woulda-run-xx.xx-time-if-I-could-get-a-better-60'"
It's the same as saying "I can bench press 50# more than the weight I bench for 8 reps". That's aggressive for a weakling, and conservative for a musclehead.

Either way it's a rule of thumb, and it has proven to work (with me anyway).
Lower the 60' time and you'll get a lower ET. The 350z is not an easy car to launch and props to those who are cutting 1.9xx 60' times!! I can't wait to get that proficient.

I haven't had the opportunity to go to the track with my new setup, yet. Doubt I will get that opportunity this year, either
![dunno](https://my350z.com/forum/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
Also, I wasn't trying to start a pissing match, I admit to any and/or everyone that I am not a premier driver and would be lucky myself to pull a 2.0 or better.
Good luck to the OP with your times, and what is up with posting the same post three times to three seperate people?

Some helpful hints with your e.t. bags of ice on top of intake plenum
between runs-i have noticed on my Z as much as .2 difference with and
without doing that from heat soak.
sufficient burn out to help with launch to get tires heated up-if i do not
get them a little sticky i spin about 10 foot off of the line.
try to go on a cool night-60 degrees or less-usually helps my car at
least .1-.2
i have run about 24-25 passes with my Z, each time i go my pattern
is super close 13.87-14.02 range with about 3 to 5 passes, best was 13.85 with my slow 5AT-cut 2.0 to 2.1 60 foots with street tires.
i will be going again soon, have some new mods and am curious how
they will do-got rid of hfcs and got test pipes and unplugged yaw sensor.
car has felt great since on butt-dyno

People who haven't posted any 1/4 mile times in the Z aren't supposed to be giving racing advice for the Z here, especially when the advice they gave is just plain wrong...

i leave at 2900 on shitty street tires, get some spin but thats how i pull my best 60ft's on them. long as your not hopping, try to ease the clutch out from 2900 then stomp it after your rolling a little. I pulled 2.0 and 2.1's consistent at end of season like that and ran 13.7 with intake and exhaust on my 03. that was with a 2.1 60ft. at 101. on other runs i have pulled 2.0's and have pulled 102 for highest trap so i know if i put all the goodies together on one run it was good for little faster. but season is over for winter
. . slicks next year with some boost

I guess I just suck. Ive did so much reading on here on launch technics and it didnt really seem to help me. I listen to what everyone has to say and follow instructions.
The car just kept giving me 14-2 - 14-2 over and over and over and over.
When my car was 100% stock I got the exact same times only trapped about 94-95mph. I was really hoping for a 13.9.
My buddy with a Na S2000 was hitting 13.0-12.9 and my other friend with a supercharged NSX was doing the same.
Me and the Mazdaspeed 3 there that was modded pretty nice where the only ones running consistent 14's.
I was giving the car hell shifing insanley fast, at first, 2nd would wheel hop badly but I started rolling into it and that stopped.

Firstly: regardless of what you have read the 350z is not an easy car to launch. It's touchy off the line. Demands more clutch feathering then throttle control. Obviously a mixture of both is required but you'll find the left foot doing more of the launch work then your right. At 1k you're probably working the throttle to keep it from bogging down and revving quickly while slipping the clutch. It doesn't sound like your spinning too much off the line (esp. with the nice wide foot print at the back) and the 330' time supports that. Next time maybe try launching around 3,200 and feather the clutch. You'll immediately feel a significantly different launch sensation once you start breaking into the low 2.2 60' times.
Secondly: You're preforming well on the back half of the track. Even though some consider it a walk in the park after the first 330' it's not. Grabbing the shifts at the right RPM and engaging/disengaging the clutch smoothly and quickly demands more than basic driving skills. All though the first 330' is the most critical, the rest of the run is extremely important and you seem to be doing that well.
Thirdly: Practice if you're serious about improving. If the track is close by become a frequent race participant. If not find a side street or large parking lot with no traffic or pedestrians (some where very safe), get yourself a G-Tech or another telemetry accelerometer and practice your 60's times. Again and again and again. As with most things in life, practice is key. Practicing properly requires feedback thus I recommend a G-Tech or something similar.
Finally: Don't get discouraged. This is a great sport and can be very rewarding if you put the time into it. I am from the old school of thought that patience and practice makes perfect. You seem to have the desire and natural talent, now just work on your 60' times and I guarantee you that you'll see your times drop like a rock.
edit: what is the name of the track that you run at?

We goto Desoto Speedway or Bradenton Dragstrip, its the same place im not sure what exactly the name is though, they have a circle track also and they call that something different.
On the street I can launch the car from any rpm easily, but for some reason at the track its very difficult. The car just hooks so well maybe because the track is so clean and the tires dont spin they hopp.
Well I might try to go again soon so I can work on my higher RPM launching. I basically gave up on the first 3k launch when the car popped out of gear, I just kept trying to get good times launching at 1k and all I could get was low 14's.

also alot of people have said its too low but i ran my best times with around 20psi, my 2.0's were with 19psi actually on my street tires, play around with tire pressure, i still say run 20psi and launch at 2900 rpm and feather it out. sit right at the point where it engages and roll it out and stomp it.
when you gonna be going again? are you around st. petersburg? cause i am thinking about moving there pretty soon but worried about being out of a job if i make the move. so sick of upstate ny
