I know Google Earth isn't all that accurate, but according to that, it has a slight incline to the end of the track. After the 1/4 mile point, there's a "steep incline."

Remember that NHRA tracks have certain requirements they need to meet, including elevation changes (in degrees).

Too bad a track isn't open now, with this cold front coming through, and the temperature dropping down into the low to mid 30's the next few nights. That is record run weather!

I will get there, it just has to be the right conditions. Hopefully in November and definitely in December, we will get some weather like we have now and even colder. I will have to run during Carolina Dragway's Thursday test and tune, or I will even drive to SDR on a Friday Night, before they close for the season. After that, only Carolina Dragway, Steele or MGMP will be open, with two of the tracks running on Friday nights, and one on Sunday afternoons.

If you are running at Carolina Dragway, you can see and feel the incline towards the end. It's also visible. The track is treated better than any other I have been too though, so it's worth the slight loss at the top, for the traction at the bottom.

Wow...that's so odd, why would they build a track with an incline at the top. That's so dumb.

Nice times man! I know everyone always asks about the launch but I am more curious to know about your shifting techniques. Do you no lift shift or anything special?

I lift, but shift very quickly, getting right back into the throttle. It happens in a fraction of a second.

Well done... I am still waiting to see you get that 12 your chasing. (I know I've said it couldn't be done but I can't help but root for you anyways...haha)... I could see a 13.0x here but from experience chasing that 2 tenths is painfull. I do hope you pull it off (or at least come close)... more ammo to throw at the naysayers on other forums.

Going back tonight, with high pressure and cool temps. I hope the clutch holds, getting a bit slippy under power.

Gotcha. I assume you are shifting right around 7400? Or do you change your shift point depending on the gear?

No, I shift right at redline for each gear.

It would be pretty cool to see what you could do at a northeast track. Atco Cecil and Maple Grove always produce very low DA's (negative pretty often) this time of the year. I haven't run my car since I first bought it but going to very soon! Hopefully I can find another 1.5 second to get the fastest non HR record. I gotta make sure I run with less gas this time! 3/4 tank is not good but it was a spur of the moment thing.

Yeah, I have always wanted to try one of those tracks, but they are too far away, unless I made a trip out of it.

My DE record was set at Steele, which sits at about 500' above sea level. I would have to dig up the old thread, but I think the temp was around 60 degrees that day, with high pressure.

In the spring a mustang club I am in has an event at Cecil. Its in April and you can get as many runs as you want. They dont care what you drive as long as you can appreciate all cars and not an *******. Ive never owned a mustang and they let me in. If you want your 12 sec slip get that clutch replaced and come out. I plan on being there too running so you wont have the only 350. Cost is only $50 for the day. Cecil is probably the closest track to you also. If the DA is a positive number I will be shocked.

All the HR Zs that I've driven had weak *** clutches. I don't think replacing them is the solution here.

Common to slip on stock power? I am not doubting you because I have never driven a HR car. I think these clutches are soft anyways but I am used to serious race clutches anyways. Did they change the clutch in the HR motor cars or is it a pressure issue?

It's not the clutch itself, it's the slave cylinder. You rev the motor, it loses pressure and the pedal drops, during hard launches.

It's not just the hard launches though. It slips when you shift hard from gear to gear. I've experienced it in multiple HR Zs. But yeah, the slave cylinder is the known issue, as it stands today.

Another reason I haven't tracked this one, on a road course.

Yeah, after driving so many HR Zs with the same issue and not seeing any definite resolution for the problem, that 12 second pass 100% stock is looking more and more out of reach.
