LOL. The confusion exists because the lights are there for a reason. And reaction time is critical. Its critical in competitive racing where the objective is to get to the finish line first. ET is secondary.

Dont worry my first time was also a disaster... They saw my FMIC so they lined me up with a chipped 335i and my second was with the new GTR!! Talk about pressure... lol It took me 4 runs to be comfortable (I still suck though... lol) You cant beat the feeling of smashing the pedal going all out without worrying if there is a cop hiding, also red line that chit especially in the lower gears.. Your ET and Trap was horrible though even with a bad launch. Where you Granny shifting?

well of course it is! I'm just impressed with how poor the time was!

i already admitted i did exactly as I was not supposed to
I dont competitively race. Most time i barely drive over 4000 rpms. Quite a difference between daily driving and no vdc with lots of gas

no way i'd be able to race anytime soon. My clutch is fried and I'm laid off, so funds are limited

well my clutch was stuck to the floor. dont think that helps with ETs!

I think the problem is between the steering wheel and the gas peddle.

Aren't you the same guy who was bragging about being so good at drag racing, certainly about beating your friend, and all your history with FWD cars? Just sayin'. . .

Trouble maker..

I missed the last night at Infineon, thought it was the first Weds in Nov. Any interest in renting Sacto?

Hard...AND expensive--it's not just the $1O.OO, but the gas factor (i.e. fuel).

not to mention axles, trannys, tires etc. My on board computer says I get 5 mpg when I drag race.

Dang, I forgot they were closing up soon. IDK about renting Sac at this point, but some of the SoCal boys are talking about taking a trip up to Sac in December. I'd like to see what the new Z can do, but if they come up, I'd need to take the 300 for sure. I know the new Z is faster than Goginini's, that's for sure! He got his rear handed to him. 06' rev-up my a*s!

I've been to the 1/8 mile twice to try and get the hang of things. 1st night, it was cold out and I was averaging 9.7s. No traction.

Today, a better track and near 70* temperatures. Can't get my 60' down and I can't do better than a 9.4.

I'm on stock tires but still, I feel like I should be a lot faster. There are really bad cars running with me if not beating me by a little. I find it very hard to get the car off the line at the track. My best 60' to date is a 2.211, which is pretty bad.

I do believe that my ECU needs another reflash. I added an MREV2 since the last reflash and I don't think the car has enough power for my mods.

On the stock RE040s, it seems that there is a very small window for launching. I'm either spinning like mad or bogging down. I can't get it just right. Still, with a better 60', I doubt I'd pick up much time.

I feel your pain man. I always wonder how the hell some of those guys on here get 1.9-2.0 60' on street tires. To me that is just fantasy. My best 60' ever is like 2.19, most days it's in the 2.2 range.

Maybe it's all about the track prep and some folks on here are lucky enough to run on extremely well prepped tracks.

I was lucky enough to do pretty good my first time out with the Z. I've drag raced my maxima before but it doesnt have anywhere near the power of my Z plus it was my first time racing with a rwd car. The day before I went out and found an empty road and practiced my launches and shifts. I ended up getting 2.00 60's all day my first time and just recently began pulling 1.9's. Practice makes perfect.

It really is all about practice. I did 1.9-2.0's on 17" OEM wheels and tires and now am doing the same with 19" street tires and F/I

It says you in your sig you drive an automatic car? What shifts are you practicing?

Launching a manual tranny car is much more difficult than launching an automatic. Trust me. My cousin drives a automatic G coupe and ran a 2.09 60' his first time out. Yet, when I handed him the keys to my car, he can only manage to get 2.41 60'..

Our auto trannys have a few hundred rpm delay in shifts so in manual mode if I push my stick forward exactly at redline the car would bounce off the rev limiter. Its the same with my maxima. Of course manual are 10x harder to drive than auto but both still take practice. Beleive or it not I've let people race my car and nobody has run what I can run in it yet.
