Default Help launching?

Kay so I went to the track last night and was fairly dissapointed.
The best run I got in was 13.3 @ 107.30 MPH.

I know I can run much better because that's a trap time of a high 12 second car. My buddy's running at chipped 335i and his best run was a 12.7 @ 109 MPH but also, he launches way better then me.
His 60 ft was 1.910 and Mine was 2.185

So I just need a better launch and I'm sure I can hit high 12's. I tried everything last night... Revved at 2000 rpms and dropped the clutch. There was a bone stock 08 350z out there and he was getting 2.01 60 ft's and a best time of 13.2 @ 104.3. I asked him how he was launching and I tried it; Rev at 4100 rpms and letting the clutch out slowly so the tires wont spin but putting down the gas as you let the clutch out.. that didnt work either, maybe I need more practice? But yea, any advice on how to launch guys?

Here's my best run.

Dude that's a pretty damn good time, high 12s shouldn't be too hard with a good launch.

The best 60 ft. I pulled is a 2.02. I can't avoid the water box, and it always has water in it. Maybe he was lucky enough to burn out and kick some water off his tires?

I'm curious to why bmw's launch so well. I raced a 335i bmw it got a 60ft of a 1.9 and I still beat him. Maybe it's the suspension?

updated... 60ft was a 2.02 not 2.04. not much of a difference though lol

Nice job! Your mods seem to be helping according to your trap..

With an improvement in your 60 feet, I can see you running 13 flat or 12.8-9 on a lucky day...anything lower and I might be too optimistic..

I doubt it has anything to do with the suspension..

You beat him because your power band is most likely better than his. His turbo might lag somewhere in the rpm range..Naturally aspirated power is rich under the curve. According to your signature, you should have a very healthy Z.

It takes some practice on the launch... some people lower the tire pressure to get a better grip.

the track just re-opened.
palm beach raceway aka moroso, I'm going to put on my stock tires next time I go up there and actually burn out to warm up the tires before I run. I didn't want to burn out the tires I had on when I went since their freakin expensive.

lol @ revving at 7k rpms and dumping the clutch

infinite, its a bit harder for me to launch since im a manual tranny and yours is auto.. but you had a nice *** launch none the less, lol.

If you have the JWT clutch its a little harder on street tires. The clutch just really doesn't like to be slipped at these power levels (best I've pulled since getting this clutch is much worse than stock).

The stock clutch likes 5k launches with a lot of slow slip. The JWT seems to like 3500-4500 with as much slip as you can get. Good tires help, right around 80-100 F for temp, aka just spin to clean them not to heat them.

Peak what was your best run with the JWT clutch and flywheel? Also do you run race gas when you go to the track?
