Default My best 1/4...slips inside...

Slips are in order of runs. . .was a test and tune night so i was working on my launch all night. . .got .1 better each run except for the two mess ups, 4th and 5th runs. . .last run was my best of the night at 13.50. . .didn't get all the runs in that i wanted and felt there was still plenty room for improvement as the night ended. . .will be going again this saturday the 17th and will stride for better times. . .My car is stock except for the rear tires being FK452's and drop-in K&N's. . .Temperature was 42degrees with no wind. . .

I spun too much in second. . .

Old beat chevy truck. . .I missed 2nd. . .

SRT10 Truck: he missed 3rd. . .this was my best run of the night. . .

track was actually great last night . . .they were running street tires in left lane for a while and drags in right lane so the right lane was stickier which is why i ran most in the right once they opened both lanes to both tires. . .it was prepped probably the best i've seen it since i've been goin there. . .

that's my deal right now is the launch without spinning, managed to do it that night but need to do it at a higher rpm. . .i don't even know what rpm i launch at cause i don't pay attention, just 'feel' it. . .i don't rev at all before i launch. . .i call it the fast slo-mo cause i slam the gas but ease out of the clutch, but doing it quick. . .not sure if i'm explaining that right but it's how it feels. . .

not bad times just need to work on the launch. when you launch you do need to get the rev's up to atleast 3k and slip the clutch out. it will feel wierd at first and you might even run worse 60's but when you get the hang of it you should be able to get constant 2.0's. the slo mo launch thing you are doing is hurting your 60's.

That is an extremely poor run from a CAI/Tune GT.. record is 12.8 @ 106mph but most CAI/Tune only guys see a 13.3 at least. Driver is to blame there. haha

OP... if you get that launch down your times will drop dramatically. It will likely take you a lot of practice though so don't get discouraged. Seems that slipping the clutch from a good RPM produces really good results... Bateman and Veetec has posted there launch methods so that should give you a good place to start. Should see at 13.2 at least I would think with a nice solid start and your mods. It takes good air and a good shifting to pull that off but I think you have it in you.

Exactly. The other option is to try what I am. Cheap wheels and tires that are soft as butter. If I have time next week I'll get the wheels refunished and tires mounted and update my thread.

My best stock clutch launches came at 5,500 rpm's

I'll give that a try. . .the 13.5 run just felt so good after 1st gear, 2nd and 3rd just chirped, bit down and pulled from beginning to end of each gear. . .felt right. . .

he had the GT/CS. . .he said he was running 13.0 with trap of 107 before that run but didn't see him run anymore that night so i couldn't tell you if he was consistent or not. . .

very minimal hop. . .my very first runs in the z back in august of 07 i hopped ALOT resulting in a 13.7 best. . .but learned to control it better with my driving style. . .

thanks s8er. . .dramatic drop is what i'm looking for but in complete stock form, i'm not discouraged, but determined to beat Batemans run so i will be putting the stock filters back in and return the rear tires back to factory as well so i can make the 100% stock list. . .it's important to me before i start modding. . .it's so tempting to go FI with GTM's setup, but not before i feel i've got my very best time stock. . .

Try to not get discouraged..thats a tough road to travel..unfortunately for me I just didn't have it in me and gave up... I am going to get a lid and dyno tune now and just get into the 12s already. haha

haha i know what you by being eager to post in a lower second categor. . .the only thing that is discouraging is the price of the stock Potenzas. . .f-wording expensive. . .after i feel i've made my best stock my friend and i are in a race for 11's. . .but he started modding way before me. . .he's got a 5.7L GTO. . .he's running 12.6 on street tires with cams, exhaust, tune and i believe headers. . .so i need to get moving on modding. . .
