Only want 7-8.5" rim widths because I will be running a 255 width tire, which is basically all that MT makes in the range I would want.

235 is probably enough for me on that sticky of a tire. 26" diameter is also ideal NA.

I'll definitely post pics whenever I get something. The deals locally go fast, and I still have some people to call, I have a friend who I know has a set of 5 lug mustang wheels in his parents garage, but hes in NC now so I dunno what he wants to do with them.

pair of those and some 28x10x16 slicks would only be about 575$

Found a set at a meet tonight, picking them up tomorrow.

Z32 NA wheels, 16x7.5 ~18 lbs. Poor condition but straight and will balance. $50, can't beat $50 for a pair of anything really.

7.5 inches? Forget DOT radials. Put some slicks on those bad boys!

Damn good deal.

When I was purchasing my steelies, I was also keeping in mind how it would look on my car (which is very rare for me ) - aesthetics, offset, and color.

ET Streets are pretty much the same thing as race slicks.

Rofl, look at the tread picture, I'm basically installing a slick, but its a radial tire.

I don't want to always be dependent on having a helping hand and a save stash place at the track, I'd rather be able to swap to my tires locally (15 miles from either track I can go to).

I know slicks would give me a but more, but this has just as much to do with my desire to keep from destroying my current rears as anything else.

Good find!

Why the ET Street Radial over the ET Street (bias vs non-bias ply?)? I run the 26X10.50-16 ET Street, most of the Z32 TT guys do, however, I can't argue with the ET Street Radial, as I know of at least one Z32 TT owner in particular who cuts 1.5s 60's with his Street Radials and turns low 10s passes. They are a lot easier to drive on to/from the track, too, just drop air pressure and race!

15 + miles to the track from my nearest "stop off area" that I can store my wheels at. So unless I swap at the track I'm spending quite a while on the road, plus being NA, having radial fronts, and seeing such great results others have, the radials made sense.

Tires ordered, will be here by Tuesday from the looks of it. Maybe next wednesday I can test them out .

Will post pics, I'm going to repaint the wheels but they are in surprisingly good shape.

Awesome, and totally makes sense. Looking forward to the pics and the results!

Most people, including those with FI, don't really need slicks to get a great launch. A good burn out and the know how will help the racer achieve his/her goal. Only those with a lot of power really needs slicks. However, slicks are easier to cut faster short times than drag radials.

I apologize for the delay, and number of personal issues that take precedent over drag racing have kept me busy. However, I will be venturing the Bithlo tomorrow night, also known as Orlando Spin World, land of slow times on almost every test and tune, hundreds of ricers, and breaking cars (even with no grip...).

I'll be happy if I duplicate my street tire times from Gainesville, but I'll get some pics and vids. I've sanded one wheel, and scuffed the other, they need to be painted but I want to test them first. The tires would barely set their beads because the rubber was so sticky they kept catching on the barrel's, took 80+ psi to finally get them to pop out, really good sign for tomorrow.

Honestly unless u snap an axle I won't be upset. My concern for breaking an axle is much higher than I wish it was. I'll be up in April for some real runs, maybe we can both use them and get 12's.

So after reading like 10 threads with axle breakage I decided I wasn't going to be one of those situations. That meant I was going to practice twice feeling out the tires before doing a strong launch. The first run was a 13.6 @ 103, relatively slow launch (3500 RPM's), 2.0 60' time, shifts felt solid. Car ran straight, felt stable and had good grip. The tire warmup went better than I expected it to (on unprepped asphalt I was sliding my front wheels trying to heat the rears unsuccessfully).

Second run was a low 13.5 @ 103, I have a good video of this run I'll get posted later (on my friends comp at the moment). Slightly harder launch, still babied it a lot, 2.0 60' again, decent 1/8th given the babying.

Third and final run (place was packed) I had trouble with tire heating. The car went sideways (one tire spinning, yay craptastic VLSD), and I didn't get near enough heat in the tires. Launched hard and spun for 10-15 feet, tires bit and the rest of the run was good, 13.495 @ 103.

For comparisons sake, I want to be running an ET*trap product of around 1325 on these tires. 1350 is the most I will be happy with, given that I left some room on the table, I still managed a 1391, not terrible, but has room to improve.

Compare to my best product on street tires 1399, and I'm seeing improvement without improving my times. The air was warm tonight and I was at a slow track so hopefully soon I'll do the tires justice. I have a feel for them now and think 1.8's are doable if my clutch will bite to pull them (5000 RPM plus loaded starts with essentially a drop should get there). That would put me near 12's on a better day at a better track, which is very nice for a car with:

JWT clutch
JWT flywheel
Drag Radials

For comparison, my friends turbo 330 which should be making near 340 whp only trapped 107 tonight.

What was your 60' time on your best pass?

My best 60' was a 1.7*, but that was pretty much dropping the clutch @ 6500rpm. Your car obviously makes more power than mine, based on your trap speed, so maybe you can achieve the same results with a softer launch.
