how are you warming up your tires? Even with the brake fuse trick I never felt I could get a good long burnout. I too would get sideways.

My best 60' was a 1.7*, but that was pretty much dropping the clutch @ 6500rpm. Your car obviously makes more power than mine, based on your trap speed, so maybe you can achieve the same results with a softer launch.

2.02 on the second run, slipping from 4,000. That slow of a slip its about what I expected, the third run would have been better if I hadn't spun for a bit, the rest of the run had shorter intervals.

Video's of my first and second runs, only shows the second burnout. Learned from the video I wasn't holding the burnout long enough, and I'm just using the brakelight fuse removal trick. I might look into a cheap line lock setup, but I don't really think its necessary or would work, a better LSD would be a more worthwhile expenditure.

With drag radials or slicks a lot can depend, I would ask the guys from Performance Factory (CIN motorsports might be the new contact for Jeremy), Sound Performance, Forged Performance, Alberto, etc. I'd assume a slick and I know 26x10.5 would hold, but 28's might be better, or a wider slick, although that might not be necessary either.

I have the same problem when doing my burnout. The OEM VLSD just isn't up to par when it comes to heating up a pair of slicks. I could feel one wheel stop spinning at times.

As far as tire size, I don't see any 350z making enough power to need more than a 10.5 slick... There are 2000hp turbo cars that can hook on a 10.5!
Just watch any Outlaw 10.5 class at your local drag strip and you'll see..

I think a 9" slick is enough for most people on here.

I had a choice in 16" of a 24" 205 width, or a 26" 255 width, the 10.5" section width obv. won that contest.

And I stopped doing the burnouts when a tire would grab (thinking they were warm enough), obviously I need to wet my passenger tire a bit more (before the water box) and heat it appropriately.

Can anyone explain the brake fuse trick to me please, what exactly does it do or help you to perform?

So you can hold the gas and brakes at the same time (without the ECU cutting some throttle.

You just remove the brake fuse while at the drag strip allowing you to do a brake stand and heat the tires.

I've pretty much sold myself on the tires (255/55/R16).

Still trying to pick wheels. I'm either searching for a set of Z32 TT rears (not having luck on the cheap yet), or possibly one of these options:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

The steelies are 37 lbs each though, and the first set I can't find weights for.

Any other alternatives (I know Veetec posted the RX7 wheels) I need to be looking at.

So far my search has been 16x8 5x4.5" lug's, 5"-5.5" back spacing, not concerned with hubcentric.

Should I be looking for a different fitment?
why dont you save yourself some money and just get a wider street tire? my stock size in the back was a 235/50/17. i switched to a nitto nt555 in 255/50/zr17. i couldnt be happier! they hooked up great at the track! plus you can get both tires online for about $300

Maybe because I have 19x10 rears and 2 tires shipped and installed is over $500, and they don't hook as well as drag radials.

Look at the stock times list, I promise you, I know how to make a pass at the drag strip. Tell me my 60' time needs improvement for street tires....I want a 1.7.

2 centimeters wider at the back with slightly different compound and tread pattern won't do anything to get you to hook. Drag radials (and slicks) are made for drag racing for a reason.

No offense, I know you meant well, but I had already posted that I'd bought them and have a video of "break in" runs with them (me feeling the tires out).

I expect to hit 12's should I ever get the weather too, I certainly have the holding power between my tires and clutch, but its a matter of getting really cold air to do it now.

i hear ya. well fl you probably wont i know i lived there for 3 years. id tell you to bring it up to jersey but that really wouldnt do any good considering you live in fl. where you live is where you should run your car. even if it could run a better time in cooler weather its pointless since you drive it in fl. what would you say if someone asked you what you run down there? what that you brought it up north to run xx.xxx? thats gay! run the car at your home track. other cars that run there have the same conditions

Yup, I regurlarly run 13.3-13.5's with 103-104 traps. Obviously slow for the car.

About an hour NE of Orlando, 25 miles west of Daytona.

I've run mostly at Gainesville Raceway www.gainesvilleraceway.com, and once at Orlando Speed (spin) World. The one night at OSW was on the ET Streets but I was too chicken to launch properly without having found sources for spare axles yet.

I'm not sure, I have room around my calipers, and I think it does, but I have the non-brembo brakes.

i have a pair of fd rx7 wheels that i can send you for cost of shipping. they're a little bent (not visible, but enough to throw the wheels off balance), so you'd have to take them to a wheel repair place and get them fixed. but i'm not sure if they can be fixed to be good enough to use, so iguess its kinda a gamble. i can take some pics if you're intrested. pm me if intrested, i don't check the drag racing section to often...

Thanks for the offer but I got lucky at a meet and snagged some 300zx wheels.
