Default New drag radials!

Ok guys i need a little advice. This is the first time taking the Z to the track and I want to get some imput on getting out of the hole. What do you guys think is the best RMP to launch at? Slip it or drop it? The car Is a 2006 Touring with Powerlab running 10lbs making just over 400 on a DJ. I will be on Mickey drag radials. On the street i can get out OK around 3k, but that is just trying to keep traction. Any help is appreciated!

thanks Keith

Keep a log. Experiment with 2,000, 3,000 and 4,000 RPM starts. Annotate 60-foot times. You will soon get a feel for how the car best hooks up. Have fun be safe.

Which MT drag radials? ET Street or ET Street Radial? In either event, do some reading on ideal tire pressures, how and how long to do a burnout, etc. As Davidv said, keep a log so you learn what works and what doesn't. Read more. Pull the ABS fuse, and run higher octane than you're tuned for. Keep the car straight - be prepared for the a*s of the car to walk around at 1000'.

slip slightly from 5k, 3k launches might give you traction but the launch is too weak. better off getting a good kick in the pants with a little spin then no spin and a weak launch or worse bog. i learned this lesson last track day.

As high as you can leave without spinning too much.

No spin = bog = weaksauce

Some spin = good, smooth transition, good for times

Too much spin = practice throttle control, your losing time

Nobody can tell you the best way to launch, track surfaces/temps and even your air pressures and how well you heat em up has a lot to do with how well you will hook up.

Over 400whp and DR's is 11's EASY if you can drive...I ran 11's @ 116mph with 380whp on my weaksauce TN kit with 1.8-1.90 60ft's.

Drag racing is like riding a bike. You can ask everyone in the world how to do it and have them describe it to you, but until you get out there and try pedaling yourself, you aren't going to know what exactly you need to do.

Thanks for the help guys. Track rental is on March 1st, so I will post up slips after that. I know my car has 11's in it. My buddies camaro is a 11.70 car and I pull 3+ cars on him. I should get plenty of runs in though. Only 30-40 cars will be there.

Careful with that. Camaros can be built to lift the front wheels off the ground with a lot less horsepower. I've seen many, many, muscle cars run high 11s with relatively low trap speeds (low 110s). Plus, I'm betting he is automatic. Shoot for mid 12s your first time out - anything better then that is gravy. I pull many car lengths on an R35, but if I botch the launch at the drag strip, I don't have enough room to catch up.
