I had a frustrating, yet impressive day at the track!
First off, no record runs. The clutch was having none of it. Early on they blocked the groove, allowing only cars with slicks onto it, so it was very slippery. Then they eventually let me use the groove, once the few cars with slicks stopped running.
I could not launch hard at all, or the pressure would drop, and the clutch would slip badly. 2.0's was all she was having, which frustrated me like you wouldn't believe. This is the one flaw in an otherwise impressive car.
What's impressive was the trap speed. The DA was about as good as you can get, with a high temp of 48, while I made my fastest. The elevation is about 500 feet, and the location was Steele Alabama.
Launching easy, rolling out, got me traps in the 108-109 range, with a high trap of 109.03. When you see the slips you will see either the number 11 or 1, as the right "1" was a bit faint when they put it on with orange shoe polish, so the tower person for some reason couldn't get that it was the same car.
My wife shot video, while trying to corral our kids, so it's a bit shaky, and my Digital 8 camera is having some tracking issues, hence background noise at times. While I was there I only raced two cars, the rest were single passes, as very few cars wanted the left lane, due to the lack of prep.
A guy in a light blue Mach 1, with unknown bolt ons and a loud exhaust came running out to the water box, and asked the tech to hold me up so he could race my Z. His buddies were all running out there, and one was videoing. I thought I was in for a beating, and he had some major mods. Nope. He probably had made decent power with the bolt ons, but the left lane, and the Z's top end, proved too much..."see video". After the race, I was about to talk to the guy, but he avoided me. I also raced a charger with DR's, head/cam, stripped interior, and he pretty much blew me away with a 12.4.
I ran a ton of 13.2's, with an easy roll out launch with around 6-7 clutch slipping 13.1's. I need a new clutch, she lets out at the top now, and when I get it, I will have them check the slave, "AGAIN"! I have 55K miles now, so it will be at my expense.
My car starting getting slower, while still trapping in the 107-108 area, as the clutch started making even more of a fuss towards the late afternoon, so I finally packed it in at about 6pm. I wanted to see how strong my wifes I35 ran, I so made 3 passes, back to back. I knew she was strong, but the crappy Toyos, and the track tech's forcing out of the groove with FWD, made for 1/4 to half throttle launches, easing into the gas, and still spinning all the way through first gear with the TCS off. I could have gotten her down a few tenths, but I wasn't there to abuse my wifes car. She did run traction limited 14.6's at about 96 mph, with horrible 2.3-2.4 60's spinning!
Here are some pics and video from our outing. Oh yeah, I had about a 1/4 tank of QT 93 left, which seems to run very good in both cars. One more thing, this track runs the .000 R/T for a perfect light, not .500.

Damn... that is awesome..I never expected to see traps that high.
Looks like the DA was -891 feet...very impresive runs man.. did you get the clutch replaced once already? It's odd that you guys have so many clutch issues...I have 99K on the clock and still running the factory clutch (though it is showing signs of immenent failure and I can't launch hard on it with out slip).

Some more videos.
The first is one of the I35 runs, note the tire squealing launch, spinning all the way through first. I didn't abuse my wifes car though, or a low 14 would have been fairly easy.

A couple more of the Z, with easy launches. I have about 12 more on video, some of which are 13.1's. In this video, you will hear my son Christopher on the second pass, asking for mommy to hold his pirate hat, so he can climb the fence and watch his daddy, so cute!

Wow, thats pretty insane. Thats a really high trap. I was already impressed with 105-106mph, 109 is getting pretty fast for a stock Z. Thats really doing everything right down the track.
