yes with 6spd. also...u cant do a brake stand with ur foot on the brake and gas, it cuts power, so if u take the brake light fuse out it bypasses that and u can brake stand all u want and get the tires nice and hott at the track..no need to with street tires, because street tires dont need a burnout at the track

^^^ Just wire up a toggle switch to the brake light fuse and you can do burnouts with a flip of a switch... Just remember to switch it back. lol

when i was n/a with just intake and i had my 19's on with 275/30/19 shot nitto's i was pullin 2.0 60ft.'s, i never pulled under that but i only had about 8 passes that way and like i said the tires were on their last leg, so with some good ones i think i would have cut down into the 1.9 range with them...

just keep workin at it, i would try about 2800-3000 rpm and feathering it out from there, i found a little tire spin to get me better 60ft times with those street tires..not alot just a little rather than a bog

I've learned this also through many many runs.

yup just a little spin will get him his best 60ft. times. Even if it didnt feel like it sometimes i would think i spun too much but it would be a better time until the point where i would start hopping, but nooo hopping!! hopping is bad..lol

right, i usually dont get hopping in my Z, more spinning.
what i do it i launch at around 2200-2600rpm, i kinda dump the clutch (i think this is whats hurting my 60) but i end up spinning so i let off the gas just a bit to get traction then im off.
i got my shifts down, i chirped 4th gear which is at around 90mph :P

All the things I do are not recommended by most people who post here. I have 275's on 19" WORK wheels. I lower the psi to 25# burn the tires until I can see smoke in my rear view mirror and then consistently turn 1.9 60 foot times. I launch at only 2500 rpm. (5AT) I was turning 1.9's when I was totally stock, but on 17" tires.

I was hitting 2.0 60ft's on stock 245's my first time out lol

I lower to 27psi, so a small burnout, mainly to clean tires and get water off.

Learn to feel the car out of the hole as opposed to just dropping the clutch and expecting the car to hook. It wont happen on street tires. You have to gain experience and know what its like to feather the gas/clutch as needed then as soon as you can, go WOT-which NA is very quick into the launch.

Practice X 100

So many of you are failing to understand that it's going to take torque to yank this car out of the hole. IMO, he's not going to see sub 1.9 60 foots until he either:

1) Adds more gearing, higher stall TC, or shorter tires.
2) Adds more power. I'm talking a significant power increase starting right around 2000rpms (ie turbo or nitrous).
3) Yanking a lot of weight out of the car.

FYI, you can run Mazda Millenia (11lb) 15X7 rims on the non-Brembo 03/04 Zs. I've got a set of these wheels and they clear the rear calipers by an 1/8". I'm running 225/50R15 BFG DRs which are only 23.8" tall or 2.5" shorter than the OEM tire combo. The entire combo weighs a mere 35lbs. That takes my G's effective gear ratio from a 3.34 to around a 3.67. The problem is the stock 6600rpm limiter. The shorter gearing forces an early 4th gear shift which slowed my G down compared to running the OEM 17" combo on the same day at the strip. It might be different for the Z since they can launch harder, weigh less, and typically see 2mph higher trap speeds. I'm implying the Z will be crossing the line at a better rpm than my G. Once I get the Technosquare ECU flash with a rasied limiter, it should fix the 4th gear issue. We'll see.
