Default Track launches

Searched for bit and didn't find anything. But how many passes on stock suspension and drivetrain have you done with a radial? My reason for asking is it necessary to upgrade to the dss axles when running a radial or can the stock driveline handle 5k rpm dumps and 1.6 or 1.7 60's?

There are people who have made many, many passes on slicks or DR's on stock driveline, but you just can't be surprised if you break an axle or the the clutch bites the dust.

Don’t just dump the clutch, that’s how you break things. On drag radials or slicks you have to preload a little to reduce the shock on your drivetrain especially with stock axels, etc.

However, doing this will almost ensure that your stock clutch will die.....it's a tradeoff.

I’d rather let the stock clutch die a little though.

I don't have the slip on me and have no way to post it up on the site. Sitting at work right now and have no access to it but basically a 2.105 60' and 13.9 @ 100.55 mph. The DA at that time was -855 ft.

mods: popcharger and bald bridgestone tires.

Looking into doing the JWT clutch/flywheel with 4.08 setup sometime this year along with 100 shot so I guess I shouldn't go the cheap route and run stock axles.

I wouldn't be too cautious about it but do keep it in your mind to buy them soon esp at your power output.

There is no answer to your question. You can run street tires, drag radials or slicks. Eventually something will break. That is a given.

axles are about 900$ for just the stage 2. hardly cheaper than a clutch. Plus burn your clutch and you can still probably gte home. blow your axles and you are SOL.

I have my 28" drag radials so I'll be at the track again in the next month.

What drag radials are 28"?

I was just looking at some 26.4" radials, so hopefully I can get back to the track and hit my goal FINALLY

+1 on giving i tto the clutch over abusing the tranny, driveshaft, rear end, axles....

My insurance provides free towing so if something breaks so be it. Basically I got the answer I was looking for. Now what is the best clutch setup? Im kidding.
Ive never ran a radial at the track only rt615's on a different car. How much different is running a radial than sticky autox tires?

15's

Not much of a sidewall on the 35's for hard launches, and we know you don't launch under 5-6K . Are you going with the 305/35/18 as a street and track tire so you don't have to change out your tires/wheels?

Yeah I dont expect ET street grip, but I dont want to redo my alignment and spend more money on skinnies/wheels for upfront to avoid the bias play rear/radial front sway that plagues me now.

Instead Im looking for something that will get me an easy 1.7 60ft on a pu$$y fart launch and I can run through the gears into a decent time. I think the DR's will get that done and be fun on the occasional weekend out on other "tracks"....thoughts?

I ran consistent low 1.8's on my BFG DR's with only 460whp. They were 295/35/18. You should have no problem putting down 1.7's
