Default NEW PB....SO close to 10s.....

UPDATED WITH VIDEO

Weather was pretty good and track was hooking well for guys with good tires. There was a ZR1 there that almost put it into the wall on the 1-2 shift on his stock summer tires. I didn't have ANY traction issues though.

Only got 4 passes in, 2 of them were clean (other 2 were really boggy launches)

Here's my best...SOOO close to 10s....launch wasn't that great either...

Ran an 11.1@128 after that with a crappier launch, and then on the next pass (was going to be my last). I REALLY got out....best launch of the day...no bog...but about 40-50 feet in...this happened....

So much for my DSS UPGRADED axle. I was running a stock one on the other side...no idea why the UPGRADED one broke and not the stock one.

Oh, well. My car is probably done for the year since I now have only stock axles sitting around.

Launch that broke the axle

dont give up too soon my friend... your stock axle held up pretty well, and in fact obviously better than the upgraded axle. if you have more stock axles throw one on and give it another go.

I had backup axles at the track just in case. So I spent an hour replacing an axle while it was getting dark. Where the DSS axle broke was right at the end of the splines, so it marred up the inside of the actual hub a little. Getting that broken part out and then the backup axle in was a *****. So I'll need a new hub too...

Buy a new hub (or entire spindle from junk yard) and a pair of stock axles today get it mid week, we install that **** thursday or friday, run 10s on saturday. The end. That last launch would have put you well in the 10s dude if DSS didn't give up the ghost.

wow, no traction issues with this cold?!

what the heck are you running for traction?

good run, btw. I'm sure you could pull that extra .08 out of there sooner or later.

Wheel hop or just part failure? With a 1.6 60 ft. you have some type of slick.
The perfect run will net a 10.9. Your so close, I know you can taste the 10's

No it happened just after the launch in first gear...I was probably going about 20-25mph when it happened if I had to guess.

No wheel hop, MT DRs

Perfect pass would get me a 10.8. I know I can sixty well into the 1.5s as my 1.67 60' was still a pretty bad bog. I just needed a tiny bit better launch for a 10.99.

Just read your other thread.Had same tires on my stang, but a 17in. wheel. Could launch @ 5500 and they just hooked up. Other guy i was there with said the front wheels almost caught air. But i run it with the front sway bar off for better weight transfer. Was wondering if you have your sway bar on? Or is it just a mustang mod.
Read another thread about front sway bar taken off and looks like no Z's are doing it, besides the op of that thread.
You have the 10's with those tires no problem, I'd bet on it your next time out.

I think a set of skinnies up front would have given you your 10 second pass. Just a little less rolling resistance and you would have been there. Very impressive times though.

good thing i replaced my busted axle last week with another stocker. I;d be livid spending 800$ on level 2 and have them break as well.

I assume it was your driver side the broke. I dont think anyone has broken their passenger side axle out of every broken axle thread i;ve read on here and G35driver.

Thats the fastest time for such a low trap! congrats!

I've broken the passenger side twice (one was a DSS, one was stock) and the drivers side once (this was the drivers side).

great launch... at least it's just the axle snapping, not anything else
